Stunned to wake up to the news that Miami Marlins ace pitcher Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident in the early morning hours today. He was only 24 years old, and his girlfirend is expecting their first child. This one is hard to process for me. Such a shame, such lost potential.

I'm so sad to hear this and seeing a young pitcher died in a boating accident like this is so heartbreaking for Marlins fans everywhere. I was shocked to see that happening and I'm truly sorry for his girlfriend who is expecting their first child. Like mrp said ... I just can't shake this thing away and seeing this happen is beyond unthinkable.

ARNOLD PALMER DIES AT 87 Golf Great and Legend Arnold Palmer dies today at the age of 87. ESPN reported it 4 hours ago. He is my favorite Golfer of All Time ... Loved his zest for life and he's was truly a great sportsman and leader on and off the golf course.

RIP Gary Reed, founder of Caliber Comics, a company that gave many of today's top professionals their start in comics. He was only 60 and appeared in good health at a con appearance this past weekend, so his passing was sudden and unexpected. Thoughts with his family and friends.

Bill Warren, a true titan of horror & sf movie fandom (his Keep Watching the Skies! is pretty much the Bible for devotees of '50s sf films like me), died Friday at age 73. He also wrote some scripts for Warren back in the day, most memorably -- at least to 10-year-old me -- "The Spiders are Revolting" in Eerie #26.

This group is one of my brother favorite band and I pretty sure that he will talk about this tomorrow when I see him. So, sad to hear this Pip! |

R.I.P. Steve Dillon, co-creator of Preacher. Damn. Wow Big loss Was a big fan of his work with Ennis in the 90's and early 2000's with Preacher and The Punisher. Don't know who they'll get to replace him on the current Punisher series, but they have a lot to live up to. |
