I plan to check out DragonCon this year with my wife. I've attended MegaCon in Orlando many times before, but never made it to Dragoncon before.

I was thinking of attending it since my college is nearby, but I'll have to see if my class schedule allows for it.

Nice! Which college is it? I hear it's a huge con. I love the people watching at Cons.

Emory University
The problem is that I don't think Dragoncon has single day passes.

I went to Mega City Con this year.
I have never made Dragon Con. I moved to the East Coast in '11, and have meant to hit Dragon Con ever since, but it is always so close in time to the Baltimore and Bethesda cons, which have been more geographically convenient.

Dragon Con is the one bigger convention my wife wants to go to, so its one the list of potential vacation choices some year, but this is not the year. She usually likes to go to Gen Con since Indy is a drive-able trip for us, but we are skipping it this year so maybe small outside chance we might try Dragon Con next year.

Looks like I might be heading out to Dragoncon for Saturday. Anyone else thinking of going?

Just took a look at the guest list.
Tom Baker, Adam Baldwin, Trace Beaulieu, Jim Butcher, Frank Connif, Terry Gilliam, Joel Hodgson, Gates McFadden, Patrick Stewart...it's pretty much the most exciting guest lineup I've ever seen assembled.
And Laurell K. Hamilton is pretty much my wife's favorite author. If this were in driving distance, I'd so be there, cost of admission be damned. But there's no way we're travelling from Cleveland to Atlanta for a weekend.

It's always Labor Day weekend, so she has the Monday off too, but my schedule has always prevented us form committing to go. It's more of a fantasy con with a large comic element, but she is a big fantasy fan rather than a comic fan. -M

Ha, change of plans... we actually had some guests from out of town and we got lazy, so we didn't go, but we did drive by the main drag on Saturday, and that was enough for a good sample. Dear lord, so many folks and so many costumes of varying degrees of quality. Very cool con, and I plan to actually try and attend next year.

Not a lot of comic presence there , but tons of cool film and TV guests though!
