Decided to give the new "Ultimates" book a chance and let's just say that I wasn't disappointed. Even if the Fantastic Four is dead in the water, if Ultimates keeps going on the path it's on, I think it will be a more than worthy successor in terms of taking to heart the matters between man and the unknown I've really been enjoying that one so far.

I'm intrigued. I had a lot of reservations about Marvel launching this book so early into Sam Wilson's run as Cap, but this twist went a long way in alleviating them. I'm also thinking this has something to do with Pleasant Hill and Kobik, but not Steve's restoration. I don't want to say any more because of spoilers, but if Spencer's doing what I think he's doing this could end up being a good story. I hope you're right, my friend. This would be very unfortunate unless it were part of a GIGANTIC swerve. I'm guessing that Red Skull, Maria Hill, or both working together used Kobik to rewrite Steve's past in order to discredit him and take down SHIELD.

It could also very well be John Walker/U.S.Agent, or even Nomad, disguised as Cap

I know this series is probably mentioned somewhere on the board but I couldn't find it anywhere with the search engine
Anyway...
Not exactly a new comic in terms of new material, but I just bought a few issues of "Haunted Horror" from IDW/YOE which collects about 5 stories each issue of early-50's banned horror comics from around the time that the Comics Code went into effect.
And they're pretty much all REALLY good.
A little more gory and violent than series like EC's Tales from the Crypt, about on par with the Eerie mags of the 60's and 70's.
But it seems to have a bit of the Bruce Jones "Twisted Tales" vibe. Some really nice surprises in there.

I'm sure I'd love it and want to obsessively collect everything I can. But I really should complete that Twisted Tales of Bruce Jones run....

Started on ODY-C Volume 2, but it's dense reading so I'm only 1 chapter in.

Started on ODY-C Volume 2, but it's dense reading so I'm only 1 chapter in. I bought the first 4 issues but haven't read those yet : for some abstarct reason, I'm kind of afraid to dive in those, the storytelling seems quite painfull to take. Is it just an abstract fear? Is the book good?

Also the artwork is rather abstract, so you need to take a longer look at it from time to time. It's a book you need to make time for and it's an acquired taste. I do like that Fraction can do so many different things, between this, Iron Fist/Hawkeye and Sex Criminals, you get some very different books.

Daredevil: End of Days has to be one of the worst DD stories that I've yet to read. The art by Sienkiewicz, Janson, and even co-writer David Mack is the only saving grace of this mini. But Bendis' plot of Matt's final day(s) and the surrounding mysteries around them contains little logic. There's not enough information or direction given to the reader to make him/her care enough about the resolution of any of these mysteries. It's shame for he had some interesting ideas but he didn't take the time to really flesh any of them out nor give the reader any strong emotional connections for them.
It's one of those few comic stories that I wish I could un-read.

Yeah, it was awful. Such a shame after Bendis's brilliant DD run.

New 52 Green Arrow. Just like Red Hood & The Outlaws/Red Hood-Arsenal, it just scratches that itch I have for a "self aware comic that doesn't take itself too seriously" (I.E. what so many people claim to love about Deadpool). It's gotten to the point where I call those types of books "junk food comics" because they feel like that big fat bag of potato chips and two liter bottle of hard citrus soda that you can't help but spoil yourself with But then there are pages like these where I can't help but grin like a big dumb idiot

Read DC Universe : Rebirth and liked it.
I haven't hated the nu52. Parts of it I've liked a lot, like Batman & the GL titles, but they pretty much carried on from pre-FP.
I've enjoyed Superman & Action and most of the Justice League run (weak start),
Aquaman, Flash and Wonder Woman have been ok but not great.
I loved Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E., O.M.A.C.,
Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Batman & Robin, I Vampire,
Batwing, All-Star Western, Justice League Dark, Legion Lost,
Kinda lacking - Batwoman, Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Catwoman, Deathstroke, Demon Knight (this was the one I wanted the worst and it read like bad D&D fan-fic),
Bad - Blackhawk, Hawk & Dove, Legion of Super-Heroes, Nightwing, Men of War, Mr Terrific, Red Hood, Resurrection Man,
Mixed - DC Comics Presents (Deadman - great, Challengers - horrible)
Horrible Mess - Hawkman, Teen Titans
Surprises - I lied the previous Firestorm and liked this title too. Grifter - I knew next nothing about but liked this. Reminded me of ROM hunting the Dire Wraths. Stormwatch, Voodoo.
Meh - Static Shock, Suicide Squad, Superboy
Looking forward to the Super titles, Wonder Woman, and eventual Shazam, Doom Patrol, hopefully Freedom Fighters someday.
