I certainly remember Doom, but I didn't get into it because I've never been a big fan of alternate reality ongoing series. I never got into Batman Beyond for that matter. I can see that before, but now that there is no continuity, you should let that go and give it a try... 2099 is pretty awesome... Batman Beyond is really good, too, actually... at least it was before they ruined it with the Brother Eye stuff. Also, with 2099, they've pretty much made it the official future at this point... what with Miguel O'Hara and the 2099 Cap chick running around, and Alchemax existing in the present.

Oh, it's not the first time alternate future residents have settled in the here and now... Cable, Rachel Grey, Vance Astro, they all come from divergent futures. Unlike most instances of Marvel's tempering with reality, I find that to make alot of sense: whenever we travel to the past, we create an alternate timeline (unless we were always there to begin with), and so there is no big logical problem in seeing people belonging to alternate timelines ending up in the same one. And since it allows us to see more of Miguel O'Hara, I'm all for it!

True, but it's not JUST Miguel O'Hara now... they (or, Dan Slott and PAD at least) seem to be actually moving their parts of the Marvel Universe in that direction.

Borrowed the first two Hawkeye by Fraction/Aja TPB's from the local library over the weekend and read them both last night. The only questions I have are: How the hell did I miss this book when it was out originally, and how soon can I get out and get copies of my own for my collection? Well #1 was going for like $50-75 in most places (I sold mine to MyComicShop for like$45 a year and a half ago so I can only imagine what their mark up will be. You might want to consider trades if you do get it. I think there's an omnibus for the whole run coming out. -M

Has the through crossed anyone else's mind that Dark Vader's success kinda proves that a Doctor Doom ongoing could work with the right creators? Nope, Darth Vader is just milking the Star Wars cow...all those titles are doing well. I won't be surprised if they start an Ewok title next. I hate those furry bastards.

No sense in trying to hunt down the floppies at those prices.

I for one have never gotten the Ewok hatred. You even hate Wicket? I think I always kinda liked them because I was the perfect age for it. Return of the Jedi was the first Star Wars film I vividly remember seeing in the theater at 5 or 6 in 1983. What if they came up with a bad-ass Ewok bounty hunter with an attitude -- the kind that shoots first and asks questions later -- that's addicted to spice and has a gambling problem?

I'm just glad they didn't screw Vader up... I was afraid they'd make him all Anakin-y.
In honor of Neal Peart's (mostly) official retirement, I read the Clockwork Angels mini... it was actually quite good... very nice art, and a pretty decent (if a bit standard) coming of age story, peppered with Rush lyrics references, which were fun. Glad I put aside my Kevin Anderson hate (who did the scripting for Peart's story) to get it.

Spider-Man 2099 and Thanatos were part of a storyline in PAD's Captain Marvel and Halloween Jack (opponent of X-Men 2099) appeared in JF Moore's X-Force. And now I feel old again, because I saw that both stories are 15 years ago.

True, but I feel like Alchemax coming to the current Marvel Universe is more solid somehow. They toyed with having Stark INdustries become Stark-Fujiwara for a bit (just after Teen Tony), but it never really happened.
That Halloween Jack story was pretty good, IIRC. I remember hearing about PAD's Captain Marvel crossover, but I never read one.
