Yes, it's time again.
Boston is again a three day event. This year it is scheduled for July 31 through August 2.
Guests are already being lined up. The big guest, of course, is Stan Lee. I don't think I will be seeing Stan this time around, much as I would like to; Stan is now charging $80 for a signature. I have no problem with this at all, but I also don't have $80 to drop on a signature.
There are, however, some other legends lined up as well for this show that I actually haven't met before. Here's my early list of creators I will be getting signatures from, along with, as usual, my thoughts on what I might have signed. As always, my rule for signatures is if the creator ever did something featuring the Avengers, I have to get that signed along with whatever else I am getting signed by them.
Frank Brunner - I believe I will be getting Dr. Strange #1 and #4 signed. I might get something from the Strange run on Marvel Premiere as well. I need to look through the covers again to decide. Red Sonja #12 is an option. I haven't found anything he did with the Avengers, though.
Jose Luis Garcia Lopez - So many choices, I don't know where to start. Action Comics #484 and Atari Force #1 immediately came to mind. He also did some of the best covers of the otherwise disappointing bronze age Wonder Woman, including #229, #230, #240, #306, and #329. Other options include DC Comics Presents #1, DC Special Series #9 (starring Wonder Woman), GL/GA #113, and Jonah Hex #1, which I feel like I should only do if I'm going to have it done as a CGC Signature Series. There are other Jonah Hex options to pick from instead, like #2-5, or Weird Western #32 or #38. I might need to make a poll for this.
Kurtis Wiebe - I'm a big Rat Queens fan, so this will be the Image What's Next with their first appearance, as well as Rat Queens #1.
Stephanie Buscema - Betty and Veronica #272 will be one pick. Probably Archie #652 as well. She did do one Avengers variant, but it was after I quit Avengers, on some new title they rolled out to exploit the brand. Other possibilities are Girl Comics #1 and 2, and Life with Archie #31, which I would need to acquire. She's also done a slew of Red Sonja variants that might be cool.
Amy Reeder - This will be issues of Madame Xanadu, I'm just not sure which ones yet.
Erica Henderson - Squirrel Girl #1 and #2. She's also going to be doing Jughead, so I might have her draw something for me. Speaking of which...
Andrew Pepoy - Has done a bunch of amazing variant covers. I'm looking at Archie #646, Afterlife with Archie #1, and maybe Afterlife with Archie #6? And possibly some kind of commission, price depending.
Jeff Parker - Agents of Atlas #1?
Dan Panosian - Here's where my Avengers rule bites me in the butt, as the issues this guy worked on were mostly terrible. Oh well. We're looking at Avengers Annual #21, Avengers Spotlight #40, and maybe Captain America #400.
Yanick Paquette - I don't remember this at all, but apparently he drew Avengers #471.
There are also several people I have already seen before who I may bring more stuff to get signed, including Dan Parent, Jeff Shultz, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Alex Saviuk, and Don Rosa.
Really hoping more names get added, specifically from older, classic creators.
