I have trouble seeing how knowing the comic stars Squirrel Girl isn't enough.
I will definitely be checking out volume 1 when it is released this September.

OK, I'll bite with some specific questions:
- Is this mostly a 4th wall breaking industry commentary like Deadpool?
- Are the Great Lakes Avengers in it? Or Cage and Jessica Jones?
- Does it connect with anyone else's MU, or it it pretty much stand alone?

I looked at the first couple of issues at the LCS, and while the writing was decent enough, I found the art to be atrocious.

Just finished Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #5 and could not stop laughing. I think it's arguably the best issue yet.

Will she be in the fourth Avengers movie? After all, we need someone who can beat up Thanos!

I tried out the first issue, and thought it was ok, but ultimately it didn't grab me enough to warrant adding to my pull. I'll probably catch up with it on Marvel Unlimited when it makes it over there. Having said that, I'm glad that this book exists. As much as I roll my eyes at the latest stunts Marvel pulls to boost sales, I appreciate that they make some effort to cater to different tastes.

I'm late to this party since I only by trades, but as I just mentioned in another thread, this is a terrific book. Squirrel Girl doesn't break the fourth wall, but every page has a line or two of fine print at the bottom where the narrator comments to the reader like a Greek chorus, usually quipping about the action or dialogue depicted above. The humor is super nerdy and very 80s centric. It's been said that Big Bang Theory is a TV show about smart people, for dumb people; whereas Arrested Development is a TV show about dumb people, for smart people. Squirrel Girl is a comic book about smart people, for smart people, inasmuch as it's full not only of Buffyesque pop culture references but also lots of STEM related humor like how to factor a quadratic equation for the perfect parabola to toss your friends into a distant swimming pool, or how a programming language designed by Dr. Doom would be different from C++. Frankly, it's also nice to see female superhero art that isn't about T&A. The main downside to this series is that it has such a unique voice that one suspects any other author would have difficulty keeping the magic alive.

I loved this at first, but dropped it recently. It's just too... samey. The quality is still there, but I realised I'd stopped looking forward to new issues a while ago. Maybe would have been better as a limited series.
