The main series has been kind of formulaic, but good. # 2 is especially good with Earth-2 Thomas Wayne meeting "son" Bruce.
The Superman Convergence # 1 was fantastic with Lois pregnant. It really feels like picking up from the great 90's era, one of my favorite runs in comic history.

I'm enjoying the event so far. The focus on the Earth 2 characters has been a welcome surprise. As for the tie-ins, the Nightwing/Oracle one is my favorite so far. I'm really looking forward to week 4 with the books set on Pre-Crisis Earths 2, 4, S, and X.

Read the Aquaman issue last night, with middling expectations, and to my surprise, exceeded.
Very good issue.

As predicted, this has been my favorite DC big event that I have ever read. I particularly liked Nightwing/Oracle. I am hoping that Detective Comics, Justice Society, and Action Comics are even better. Next week is my big week. I plan to pick up the majority of the titles.

I may have to drive 2 hours tomorrow to check out Convergence to see whether I like it or not. I already contacted the owner and have him pull some readers * for me to check out. I will work this issue with DC Comics to expand my list of comics to get.
* A reader is a issue that's not for sale and helps a customer to whether he/she wants to buy it or not.

As predicted, this has been my favorite DC big event that I have ever read. Really? I've enjoyed seeing old characters come back in several of the tie-ins, but the actual event seems to barely deserve the name. Give me DC 1,000,000 or Invasion any day...

I think it's working toward that.

Getting caught up on my Convergence this weekend.
I know the idea is similar to Secret Wars (kinda), and I have a DC bias, but Secret Wars is way past me and too complicated, despite some pretty wild ideas I read in the solicits.
Anyway, it's guaranteed I'm buying all the Convergence issues just because it's so fanboy, but I have to say while it's not legendary or anything, I'm pleasantly surprised at the overall level of craft of what I've read. None of the issues I've read have been cringe-worthy.

So, I read the first 4 (well, 0-3) of the main series, and a couple of the many tie-ins I got... I kinda underwhelmed so far. I had no idea it was focused in Earth 2 (which I don't really like), so that was disappointing. The side stories are decent, but I'm kinda regretting getting so many of them.. it seems like most of the #2s are just going to be big brawls, which aren't all the much fun unless the art is really stellar.
It's not as bad or as pointless seeming as, say Age of Ultron or Infinity, but I'm not really feelin' it yet.

So I finished my Convergence pile.... I'm still meh on it, I think. VERY disappointed in the Titans stuff (one with focused on Arsenal, and one on why Nightwing/Starfire don't work as a couple. I mean, Kole? Really?). My favorite was the Hawks.. both in their book (and the evil versions in the Nightwing/Oracle book. The Aquaman stuff was pretty decent, too.

I am enjoying the main Convergence series, and particularly enjoyed the Nightwing/Oracle and the Hawkman titles. The spin-offs that I was most looking forward to have been a bit disappointing. I didn't enjoy Justice Society of America very much and I actually did find Detective Comics "cringe-worthy." Its a decent story if you like Dick Grayson, but Helena Wayne was written so out of character that I couldn't bear it. I am having a hard time understanding why she was written that way.

I stopped getting the main story after #2, but the creators on the tie ins are fantastic. I loved seeing Rucka writing the Question and Huntress, Len Wein on Swampthing again was a treat and the recent Captain Marvel book was really great.
