I like the front page and blog ideas. They could really flesh out and add vibrancy (as well as a plethora of new members) to the board, which can't be a bad thing. I've been actually thinking about getting back to blogging again, and would be more than happy to offer help where needed. I've created a few blogspot blogs in the past and can create custom layouts. I've received over one million hits since I converted my blogspot blogs into Google+ last year ( seen here) which kind of surprised me. I'm all for more content for the community, and will gladly help out where I can. |

I have a question.. what exactly can be done in a blog that's different from a forum post? Is it the indexing? That's easily done by simply using the first post. I've only looks at blogs very occassionally, but most of them to me look like 1 man discussion boards. Blogs can be more attractive to outsiders: they are more consistent over time, and you get more information in less space. Five minutes on "legends revealed" gives more information than 5 minutes on a random CBR thread. This attracts more new people. Yes, most blogs are just 1 man discussion boards, but they have more potential as gateways to new readers. IMO. |

My personal opinion, and that's all it is, is that it's too much work for an uncertain payoff. I like what we have now. Can't people interested in blogging just stick a link to their blog in their signature? Cei-U! If it ain't broke 'n' all that! But Lash House would be a perfect example for something that works better as a blog. You had to create two different threads and repeatedly ask people not to post in the first one because you didn't want to break up the flow. A blog with an attached discussion thread would do that for you. For me, if someone wants to go back and find my review of Batman #386, it's a pain in the butt with the current setup unless I create links for every single review I've written in the OP. With a blog, it's immediately accessible. I'm not suggesting we add a new kind of content to the site, but rather explore the pros and cons of using a new vehicle for better delivering content we are already creating. |

Is there an option in proboards that will automatically build a front page pulling content from the threads? Or what? It can display the latest posts and threads, display polls, forum statistics, forum search, notifications and more. It can be setup as the homepage, obviously. |

Is pretty automatic, as advertised. A link to the message board isn't necessary, the custom page has the banner at the top, and the thread navigation is fully functional. |

Well, that might be the way to go. Do you know of any examples out there of a proboards site using the front page option like that? Every porboards site I've used just has the forum index on the front page.

Here's Ozymandias' proboards frontpage: spiderman.boards.net/In addition to being an example of how to do a frontpage with proboards, I really like the overall look of his site. I'm not a webdesigner, so I'm always open to help with the look of this site as well. Back to the whole issue of whether to host the frontpage through proboards, one advantage of using a different site is that it essentially doubles our exposure to search engines. Also, if proboards goes down, we still have a frontpage that can update members on what's happening, and vice versa should the frontpage go down but the forum remain up. |
