“But, that’s impossible….” Green Lantern started as he stared at the lab results.





“It’s true. There is no way that Steve Trevor is Scott’s father.” Illumina said. “He needs blood and fast. We can’t take it from Wonder Woman. Donna just donated a bunch, so she’s out of the question….I don’t know where Champion is. Without it, Scott’s going to…..die.”





“What did you just say?” demanded Donna Troy. She had a bandage on her arm and was quite pale. Even though she was an Amazon, she had donated more blood than was usually allowed to help her sister.





Illumina didn’t know what to say. Neither did Green Lantern.

He looked at Ilumina and said, “Someone has to know. Scott’s life depends on it.”

“Depends on what? What are you two talking about? Tell me what my nephew needs and I’ll be sure he has it!!” the former Wonder Girl demanded.

Illumina handed the test results to her. Donna stared at the writing on the paper. “This can’t be possible. You made some mistake.”

“I wish I had, but the results are 100% accurate. I’m sorry. More importantly we have to find a donor match for your nephew. His physiology is unique being half Amazon, half human. We need to find a donor, preferably his father….now!” Illumina said.

“Donna, has your sister ever mentioned….anything….?” Green Lantern asked. He was very uncomfortable with the situation and worried for his teammate.

“No….never…She loves Steve…Let me go talk to her…” The former Wonder Girl said, heading toward her sister’s room.

Outside in the waiting room, Steve was sitting with Corporal Marvel and Black Orchid.

“Don’t worry Mr. Trevor. We’ll catch the Cheetah and her gang.” Corporal Marvel offered.





His words didn’t seem to register with Steve. He was worried for his wife and son.

Black Orchid began, “You know Mr. Trevor, Scott was my first friend on the team. He was so kind and didn’t judge me for my past.”





Steve looked at her. “We did our best to raise him to be open to everyone. If they die…..” he said, shutting his eyes.





Just then Jem arrived with Sargona via a magic portal. Jem was hysterical and crying. “Steve!!! He took my baby!” she cried.





“What?? Who took my grandson??” Steve said, panicked.

Sargona explained that Wildcard had unmercifully beaten Kimber and kidnapped the Trevors’ baby. “I’ve used every spell I know to try to pinpoint him. It’s like they vanished into thin air. I detected some sort of magic involved.” Sargona offered.





“How is Scott? How is your wife?” Jem asked.

“No one’s told me anything. Jerrica, you don’t worry. If I have to march into Hell itself to save my grandson, I will.” Steve said, determined.

Just then Tom Tressor arrived. He greeted the Titans and made his way to Steve Trevor.

“Isn’t that Nemesis?” Corporal Marvel asked.

“It is. He was Diana Prince’s partner in the Department of Metahuman Affairs years ago. “ Black Orchid replied.

“Steve, I am so sorry about all this. I was trying to get you all ….to warn you. IADC intel indicated those villains were planning an attack on your family. I didn’t know until just a few minutes before that it would be today and at the veterans hospital. I tried to get to you all as quickly as I could.” Nemesis said.





“It’s ok, you did your best.” Steve replied. Tom Tressor was not his favorite person. Steve was not sure why. Probably because as Diana’s field partner, they were quite close and worked excellently together.

In Wonder Woman’s hospital room, she was already coming around, thanks to the blood donated by her sister. Her wounds were already quickly healing.

Donna approached her sister’s bed, unsure of what to say. “How are you feeling?”

“Better, sister. Thanks for the blood. How is Scott? Where’s Steve and Mindy.”





Donna explained that Mindy had set out for Paradise Island and that Steve was unhurt. She went on to explain that Scott was in jeopardy and needed a blood transfusion.

Wonder Woman started getting out of bed.

“Diana, what are you doing??”

“My son needs me. I will draw my own blood myself and give it to him if he needs it!” Wonder Woman declared.

After calming her sister down and helping get her back in bed, Donna explained what Illumina found.

“Diana, you have got to level with me. What’s going on? How long have you known Steve wasn’t Scott’s father? Who is??? You have to tell me, Scott’s life depends on it!”

Wonder Woman cried for a moment and quickly composed herself.

“Years ago, when I worked for the Department of Metahuman Affairs, my partner was Tom Tressor.”

“Yes, I remember. You were good friends.”

“We…were more than good friends. We flirted….it was all very innocent. I never let it go further than that. He never paid much attention to Diana, but he was in love with Wonder Woman. All those years he knew Diana and Wonder Woman were one and same…he never told me…..”

“What are you trying to say?” Donna Troy asked urgently.

“Once, I was helping Tom as Wonder Woman. We had been captured by the Duke of Deception and Dr. Poison. The Duke of Deception altered reality. I thought….and Tom thought we were both going to die. I thought Tom was Steve…..I couldn’t tell it was Tom! Dr. Poison subjected us to some mind-altering fumes as well. I could not tell what was real and what wasn’t. Donna, you have to believe me. I thought Tom was Steve. Tom was telling me he loved me, that he always had….I thought it was Steve saying those things to me. I kissed him and we…..”

“Oh Diana. I had no idea.” Donna said sympathetically.

“Sarge Steele had a fix on our location and he rescued us. It wasn’t long after that Tom left and joined the IADC. I always was fond of Tom, but I loved Steve. When I announced I was marrying Steve, Tom took a job with the IADC and disappeared into Europe. After Steve and I married, I discovered I was already pregnant. I didn’t know what to do Donna. I let Steve believe Scott was his. And he is his! In every way that counts!” Diana said emphatically.

Donna took her sister’s hand. “We have to find Tom. He has to know. He is the only one can save Scott.” Donna’s mind was racing. Her sister, the one-time goddess of truth had kept a secret, a lie for years. Perhaps all her time in man’s world had changed her perception. On Paradise Island, truth was one of the Amazons’ highest virtues.

“But Steve….how can I tell him after all these years. And Mindy….my relationship with her is already strained….”

“We have to move fast. I will find Tom and bring him here.”

Outside in the waiting room, Corporal Marvel spoke with Sargona.

“You said you detected magic. Well, maybe I can help. My powers are magic fueled.” He offered.

“Maybe I can help too.” Lilith said. “Come on, let’s find a quiet place.”





“Please, please….try to find who took my baby….” Jem pleaded.

Sargona hugged her friend. “I promise I will do everything I can.”

Jem watched them walk away. Steve and Tom were talking as Donna approached them. The three of them went to Wonder Woman’s room and Jem went to the ER where her husband was. She saw Illumina working on him. His face was bruised. His bloody uniform had been cut away revealing his bloodied and battered body. She buried her face in her hands and cried. Green Lantern put his arm around her.
“Hang in there. He has pulled through tougher things than this.” He said, trying to reassure her.

Jem explained that their son was now missing and she could not take much more.

“Would you mind if I prayed?” Green Lantern asked.

“I….I would love it.”

Green Lantern held her close and prayed. Illumina silently prayed along with him.

In Wonder Woman’s room, Tom, Steve, and Donna Troy-Rayner had assembled. Donna was surprised that Wonder Woman had healed even more in the few minutes she had stepped out.

“My precious Steve…..Tom….I have to tell you both something. Something important.”
