Gateway City…
“Quit your whining and hurry up!!” came the voice blaring at Michael Rich.
“I’m going as fast as I can Grandmother. I…I’m not sure about this.” He whispered as he hurried down the crowded street. People looked at the disheveled young man as he seemed to be talking to himself.
“Listen boy. Don’t you want revenge on that blasted male amazon and his entire family? Don’t you remember how I…..how YOU have been humiliated by them?? I am the only one who can help you and you know it. You are too weak to handle them on your own.”
“But this all seems so drastic….maybe if I can get Giantessa or some of the others to help me…”
“Giantessa is pale imitation of her mother you idiot! Only I can right the wrongs done to us. Now SHUT UP and get moving! Dr. Marston’s office is right around this corner.”
The young man sometimes known as the Cheetah looked up at the shingle hanging on an old cobblestone building.
“Dr. Olive Marston, Psychiatric Medicine.” Michael thought to himself. His grandmother’s voice was quiet for a minute. He started to turn and leave, but he knew this might be the only way to silence his grandmother’s voice. He had the canister that his grandmother ordered him to steal and bring to his ally for augmentation before bringing it here. He wondered why it was so important but he knew if he did not deliver it to Dr. Marston, his grandmother would rip him to shreds.
He greeted the receptionist and was soon called back to Dr. Marston’s office.
“Good morning Michael, how are you today?” the willowy woman asked. She was wearing a silver bracelet, much like the ones worn by Wonder Woman and her family. The sight of it made Michael uncomfortable.
“I…I’m not so good. My grandmother……”
“I know Michael. She is never going to leave you alone is she?”
“She made me steal this….bring it to you…” he muttered as he opened his jacket and presented the canister he recently stole with the assistance of Giantess and Sir Simian Sinister.
“What is this?” Dr. Marston asked.
“I…I don’t know. I don’t know anything anymore. Please, please make her go away. I can’t do this anymore…she is taking me over…”
“You poor thing! Here, let me take this…whatever it is. You need an injection—to calm you down.”
Michael relaxed for a moment at the dr’s words. He had been visiting Dr. Marston for months now. His grandmother had some plan to get revenge on the Wonder Family, however she had not shared the details with him.
Dr. Marston took the canister and opened it. Inside was a vial filled with a greenish liquid. “Ah, Dr. Poison. We can always count on you.” She smiled as she injected a syringe into the vial.
Michael did not pay much attention to her. Dr. Marston had given him numerous medicines in an attempt to quiet his grandmother’s voice.
“Here we go, Michael. This will make you feel all better.”
Michael rolled up his sleeve as Dr. Marston injected him.
“Now, isn’t that all better?” she said narrowing her eyes.
Michael felt like he was on fire. His muscles stiffened and his brain felt like it was going to explode. He started to hear his grandmother cackle. His body was changing. At first he thought he was transforming into the Cheetah, but this was different. He struggled to stand, clutching his forehead.
“Wh…what did you do to me??” he demanded.
“Oh shut up and enjoy the ride.” His grandmother’s voice hissed.
“Michael, you don’t look so good.” Dr. Marston smiled as the young man dropped to his feet. He could feel his back ripping open. His fingers split and his chest started to transform. His very skin dropped like paint being stripped. Within moments it was all over.
Where Michael Rich once stood, there was a tall, platinum haired woman. She stood nude in front of Dr. Marston.
“Hello Priscilla.”
“Olive, it has been far too long!”
“Looks like it worked. Poor Michael. I almost feel sorry for him.”
“Oh poo, don’t feel sorry for that sniveling coward. The one good thing he did was bring me back. The REAL Cheetah!”
Dr. Marston explained that all was in order for Priscilla Rich to reassume her life. She would pose as granddaughter of the original who had been studying abroad.
After Priscilla was chauffeured away, Dr. Marston opened Michael’s file and started making notations. “Toxin worked as expected on subject. Gender reassignment complete. The Priscilla personality now dominates. New gender should prohibit male alter from returning. Must watch closely to be sure. Many follow up visits with Priscilla.”
Priscilla Rich looked out the tinted window of her car. She was wrapped in a cheetah fur coat with matching hat.
“Grandmother….where am I…I can’t see….”
“Michael, you served your purpose. You can go now. I have no need of you.”
“But Grandmother…I love you! Please don’t send me away!! Please!!! It’s like I’m drowning!”
“You know what you are boy? A BIG FAT ZERO!”
Priscilla lit a cigarette. As she inhaled, Michael Rich faded away, his voice silenced. Almost like he never existed at all.
THE END (for now…)
