Probably not going to stop by the LCS today, but on the weekend my shop is doing its annual 24 Hour Comic Book Day. I'll get my books then:
- Loverboys HC - Gotham Academy #1
Might pick up Flesh & Steel: The Art of Russ Heath HC

Still on Holiday, but I hope to pass by the store on Friday. Planning to get the new Rat Queens and Miracleman. There is a Wonder Woman trade coming out and I still have Moon Knight on my pull list and this will probably be the keep it or drop it issue for me.

Still on Holiday, but I hope to pass by the store on Friday. Planning to get the new Rat Queens and Miracleman. There is a Wonder Woman trade coming out and I still have Moon Knight on my pull list and this will probably be the keep it or drop it issue for me. FWIW, I thought this was the most-complete issue of Moon Knight in the current series. What I liked most about it was that is wasn't a "one-and-done", but that it looks like the events of this issue are going to have repercussions into the next one and maybe start building to something bigger (not that the series, now that Ellis is gone from the title, is likely to last much more than a few more months anyway). My other purchase this week was Captain America #25. We all knew what was coming in this one, and while the transition wasn't done badly, it was a lot of talking and joking (and talking about joking, and joking about talking). Of course, in the new Marvel style, issue #25 signals the end of the current series so that it can be relaunched with a new #1. They do it so that each series feels like a TV season, so that you could conceivably read just these 25 issues and have the complete story, while the next series will deal with its own storyline; I understand they do it this way so that any potential new readers aren't scared off by getting into the book at issue #650 or whatever they would be at if they kept the original numbering, but it seems sort of unnecessary to relaunch at issue #25, as that number isn't quite so daunting.

So you are saying there finally is a comic on the market that does not do stories that wrap up in one issue? How refreshing.

I get what you're saying, and while I think there is certainly a place within the comics world for comics that can be picked up and enjoyed as "one-offs", I personally enjoy subplots that run through a title for at least a couple of issues to give the series a sense of continuity and a feeling like it is building toward something.

And although I'm not nearly as into Wolverine as I was when I was 13, there's a part of me that still has some affection for him. Same here. The last Wolverine series I picked up in entirety was the recent MAX run (helped that they cost about $1 each lol). Curious how the Death storyline plays out, and the Campbell covers are a plus.

The Marco Rudy artwork in Bucky Barnes The Winter Soldier #1 is pretty wild.

Anyone know when the new Love and Rockets is supposed to come out? I thought it was supposed to be on the shelves around this time but I couldn't find a release date anywhere when I searched online a few days ago.
Recently picked up the Satellite Sam trade (nearly typed Telegram Sam by mistake there - anyone spot where my error comes from?). This will be my first time reading anything by Matt Fraction. Been meaning to try something for a while now, but most of what I've seen of his Marvel work in previews hasn't attracted me (Hawkeye being the possible exception) and the Chaykin artwork is another reason to make this one my first shot at a Fraction book.
But in honour of the Hallowe'en month I think I'll read the last couple volumes of Fatale first.

I hated his Doc Strange in Defenders.
Hawkeye's been ok though.

I hated his Doc Strange in Defenders. Hawkeye's been ok though. I forget if any of them were written by Fraction or not but yeah, from all the previews I've seen the last few years I don't find the current version of Dr. Strange appealing at all. I don't think it matters too much who in particular is writing him at the moment - they all seem to be doing the same take on the character - a sort of sleazy playboy, like a magical Tony Stark.

Providing a weird coincidence of sorts to your post is the fact that members of Bauhaus went on to form a band called Love and Rockets, named, of course, after the comic you initially mentioned.

In the meantime, did your shop get Loverboys or Bumperhead from Gilbert Hernandez?
