Titans of Justice Chapter 6 - “Decisions, Decisions”

The Hall of Justice...
The sun had just set and the Hall of Justice was illuminated with lights. Never had a building housed this many heroes since the last official meeting of the All-Star Squadron back in World War II. Nervousness and anticipation filled the main meeting room as over fifty heroes sat present waiting to see who made the final cut of the new rosters of the reformed Titans of Justice.
Power Guy stood at a podium in the center of the room, his heart palpitating a bit, ready to give the news. Making decisions like these was never easy for him or the rest of the senior leadership team but they needed to be done. President Obama had asked that the team split in two and reduce their roster a bit to help ease the tension with the public.
“Can we just leave now? I don’t see the need to stick around for the bad news,” grumbled Wonder Girl to her best friend, Totem.
“Donna, don’t be so pessimistic,” urged the teen model. “Just because they didn’t have you fill Wonder Man’s spot doesn’t mean they’re eighty-sixing you all together.”
“I know but what does that older copy cat of me have to offer that I don’t?” questioned the visitor from the Universe of Evil.
Totem looked at Wonder Girl point blank and replied, “Experience.” There was a moment of silence before the daughter of Vixen and John Stewart started speaking again. “With Scott’s departure, the team needs someone who’s been around a while to fill his void. Our world’s Donna has been doing this job for over twenty years. She founded the our world’s Teen Titans and served on the Justice League for a brief time. No-one’s saying your incompetent. You’ll get to where she is some day. You’ve already made great strides in the time you’ve been here.”
“I guess....I was just hoping....” whispered Wonder Girl.
“So was I,” Totem smiled warmly. “I bet next time, you’re a sure pick!”
All of a sudden, the two teenage girls were interrupted, “You’re still number one with me, Wonder Buns,” smirked Power Lad, looking at Wonder Girl like she was a fresh piece of meat.
“Well, that makes me feel so much better. I guess I’ll cancel my plans to take a razor-blade to my wrist,” spat Wonder Girl sarcastically. “Oh, by the way, don’t you have a bridge to jump off of? Without your flight belt of course?”
Power Lad didn’t quite know what to say for a moment but then responded with, “Playing hard to get as usual. Keep it up. It just excites me more.” The young sidekick of Power Guy then strolled away.
“BARF!” sighed Wonder Girl as she stuck her index finger down her throat in disgust.
The moment everyone was waiting for finally arrived, Power Guy began speaking again. “Thank you everyone for coming. Tonight we’ll announce who made the cut for our two new rosters. We’re reviving the concept of East and West coast located teams. The East team will be headed up by myself, Knightvision, Olympia, and Blue Lantern. This team will be the primary team responsible for worldwide emergencies. To accomplish this task, this team will be a bit larger than the West coast team. Membership includes: Argos, Black Vulcan, Blue Lantern, Dark Arrow, Elongated Lad, the Flash, Hawk Warrior, the Huntress, Infierna Verde, Knightvision, Ms. Mars, Olympia, Powerstorm, Sargona, Sonic Boom, and myself. The West coast team will be assuming responsibility for training the Super Friends. They will also fill-in to handle catastrophes when the East coast team is otherwise occupied. The West team will be lead by Starman along with Super Friends graduating members Totem and Whirlpool!
Wonder Girl instantly gave her best friend a tight hug at the announcement of the news.
Meanwhile, Power Guy continued on with his speech. The West team will consist of Black Orchid who will be reverting back to the code-name Venus, Gold Bug, Illumina, Nucleus, Phantom Lady, Starman, Supergirl, Totem, Whirlpool, and new recruit, Hermes of the Global Guardians.
“Well, I can see that some people like to hold a grudge,” huffed the Crimson Squire who was disappointed about not being asked to rejoin the team.
“Who needs these *#&@$!(^ losers anyways. We’ll put the Outsiders back together and kick their @$%#) all over the earth,” growled Rock was equally as disappointed about not being asked to join the team.
“Oh really?” came a female voice with a challenging tone to it. Before he saw it coming, Rock was pinned to the wall behind him due to the Huntress’ right boot-heel pressing against his throat.
“W....w...w.....what th......the #&%@
” Rock struggled to say, looking into the eyes of the Dark Knight’s daughter.
“Watch your mouth or I’ll see to it that you never utter another word again,” chided the Huntress. “I’ve had with you and Brenda thinking you can act like a bunch of irresponsible rebels just because things doing go your way. In your short time as ‘Outsiders’, all you’ve done is ruin that team’s reputation. My father founded that group and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let the two of you drag that group down into the mud any further. Effective immediately, Halo will be assuming command of the group and anyone who thinks they can disobey her will be having a conversation with myself. She helped found the group along with my father so I expect that everyone will show her the utmost respect. Got it?” she stressed, looking at Rock while pushing on his Adam’s apple.
Struggling to breath, the grandson of Sgt. Rock replied, “Y....yeah.”
“Good. Now to help you will your ‘obedience’ training, you’ve been given the privilege of joining the Titans’ reserve team. Power Guy will be explaining more about the group shortly.
Power Guy continued speaking, “This leads us to our next division of the team, the reserve group. This group will act as a bunch of substitutes should more than half of either the East or West team is unavailable. The group consists of the Crimson Squire, Dreamsweeper of the Justice Society, Ibis The Invincible, Metamorpheous, Rock, Sister Sayrah, and someone brand new to us all, Tornado Champion. Tornado champion is the son of the Red Tornado. As you can see, we have members from other teams on all of our groups. This is to help keep the channels of communication open and solidify our alliances. In order to make the world and all of existence a safer place, we’ve got to work together. Those of you who are not assigned to a team will remain as inactive reserves which could be called on during a triple priority alert. From here on out, let us be TITANS TRIUMPHANT!!!”
