Has anyone else checked out the first issue of the new mini-series Big Man Plans by Eric Powell and Tim Weisch? It is pretty crazy, way over the top and definitely not for every reader. If you are a fan of Preacher or Powell's previous series The Goon, I would think you might find it worth a read. I got it Wednesday and have read the first issue a couple of times. It made me laugh quite a few times. Powell's art is very good. Parts of his style kind of remind me of Jack Davis.

Yes, Powell has that Jack Davis feel, which is a good thing. I'm really stunned his Goon hasn't gone mainstream. It's that good. I think he's pretty much tired of trying to boost that character and is focusing on other things, like the aforementioned Big Man Plans and Chimichanga, the bearded girl. When Wrinkle's Traveling Circus's adorable little bearded girl trades a lock of her magic beard hair for a witch's strange egg, she stumbles upon what could be the saving grace for her ailing freak show--the savory-named beast Chimichanga !

I read the second issue. It's mostly action. At this point, I don't see quite how this is going to tie up in 2 issues.

The Goon is a favorite, but for whatever reason I've never checked Powell's other work. I may pick this up when I get back to buying.

First issue was great. Cool artwork, but the story didn't move much in the second issue which makes me wonder how it is going to tie up in 2 issues.

Probably somebody will get punched in the face.
I'm not liking this QUITE as much as the Goon, but it's still good fun. Powell's damn near the only semi-mainstreamish artist who's stuff I always like.
