I'll be watching as much as I can. Not sure who I'll be cheering for yet. I've liked Spain`the last several years, ever since they won the Euro in 2008, I think it was, but lately they seem to have fallen off a bit. I like their ball-possession style when it's constructive and building towards an attack, but not when it becomes too conservative as it seems at times to have done the last year or so.

I always root for the good teams that have never won before. So this year, I'll be rooting for the Netherlands (who were beat by Spain in the final game last time around) and Portugal, who I hear are pretty good.
And the USA. That would be sweet!

Even though I'm American, when it comes to World Cup, I always root for Germany.

A sweep of the Rays and seven wins in a row for the old towne team! Two roommates from the PawSox both make their major league debut for the BoSox (Gary Cecchini & Alex Hassan) and both collect their first major league hit behind John Lester who throws another gem. Looks like we may have finally gotten this thing turned around and headed in the right direction, but the injury bug is still taking its toll-Mike Carp the latest injury heading to the DL with a fractured foot.

In the Dear God I'm Old Department...
I'm watching college baseball and Lukas Schiraldi is pitching for Texas. His dad, Calvin Schiraldi, helped Texas win the 1983 NCAA World Series before going on to ruin the lives of many people in New England.
Former Longhorn Roger Clemens is also in attendance.

Just finished casting all of my votes for the MLB All Star Game (ballot box stuffing not only allowed but encouraged).
I haven't paid all that much attention to MLB yet outside the Sox, so my votes may seem off, but are based on general impressions of the players and stats provided on voting site
My Ballot-
AL 1B MiguelCabrera (DET) 2B DustinPedroia (Bos) 3B Josh Donaldson (Oak) SS Alexei Ramirez (CWS) C Matt Weiters (Bal)/AJ Pierzynski (Bos) I split my ballots 3-1 in favor of Weiters OF Mike Trout (LAA) OF Jose Bautista (Tor) OF Adam Jones (Bal) DH David Ortiz (Bos)
NL 1B Paul Goldscmidt (Ari) 2B Chase Utley (Phi) 3B David Wright (NYM) SS Troy Tulowitzki (Col) OF Justin Upton (Atl) OF Giancarlo Stanto (Mia) OF Charlie Blackmon (Col)
let the debating rage....or you know, not.

Ah well, nothing lasts forever, the winning streak is over as the Sox fall to the Indians 3-2 in Stephen Drew's return.

He was part of the deal that brought back Bobby Ojeda and of course he helped us win it all in '86. They should consider retiring his number.

Sad to hear of the passing of baseball Icon Don Zimmer at age 83. He looked like a gerbil and had a steel plate in his head.He managed the Red Sox who fell against the might of Bucky Dent.Zim wised up and teamed with Joe Torre as his bench coach from 1996-2003.He was Jeter's personal good luck charm who would rub Zim's head before every game. A foul ball almost de-cappitated Zim in the dugout one game and he wore an army helmet for the rest of the day.Zim went toe to toe with George Steinbrenner many times, daring to get fired and George would back off.And who could forget the coward Pedro Martinez flinging Zim to the ground because he was afraid of his rage.
Cheers to you Zim.I know you'll forever be watching the game from up high

Don Zimmer lead the Cubs to the 1989 National League East title and won Manager of the Year.
He will be missed.

And who could forget the coward Pedro Martinez flinging Zim to the ground because he was afraid of his rage. Cheers to you Zim.I know you'll forever be watching the game from up high I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but it's not like Pedro sought out Zimmer to "fling" him away. Zim rushed Pedro angrily, spewing some rather nasty obscenities about the intensity of Pedro's relationship with his mother. Pedro had to do something or Zimmer would have bowled him over. Pedro acted more like a matador, not a wrestler or boxer. Zim went down gently and later apologized tearfully about the way he acted. (Hardly as heinous as the execrable Graig Nettles, who, in the celebrated Sox-Yanks brawl in May of '76, jumped lee from behind, purposefully yanked his left (throwing) arm, slammed him to the ground, and then sat on his shoulder in an attempt to injure him. Lee was indeed injured and wouldn't pitch again for three months.)

Another walk off loss for the Sox...Tito was gleefully riding his scooter home last night.
Meanwhile Muijica is another in a line of relief pitcher signings that is blowing up in Cherington's face-Bailey, Hanrahan and now Curly..um I mean Muijica. Ugh.

Zim got rightfully angry after Pedro was drilling Yankee batters a few times in that game.I believe Pedro hit 2 batters at that point and just brushed back another when Zim did his Hammerhead impersonation. As for Spaceman Lee, he was known for yapping loudly with insults both on and off the field. Also selling rookies bags of oregano for $50 an ounce.Nettles had to make his displeasure known in a calm but forceful way.Thats the kind of thing that made him a team captain later on
