High above the skies of L.A…
Wonder Man and Jemstone talked about their upcoming wedding. Wonder Man’s mouth was running a mile a minute.
“Of course I’ll ask my cousin to be in the wedding, and some of the guys I started out modeling with. My buddies Cory and Chris come to mind. I would ask Dad to be my best man, but he’ll probably need to sit with Mom to keep her from falling apart---“
“Scott!” Jemstone interuppted.
“Oh—I’m sorry. I was just rambling on and on, huh?”
“I need to tell you something. I don’t want us to keep secrets from each other.”
“Sounds serious. What’s on your mind?”
“I don’t want this to change things between us…..and I also have to ask you not to repeat this. It’s just that…you’re going to be my husband and I don’t want this next chapter of our lives to have a secret hanging over us.”
“What? As Jerrica your not a natural blonde?“
“Scott, please….this is hard enough as it is.”
Wonder Man looked at the beautiful singer with a puzzled look. “This is serious, isn’t it?”
“It is. It’s awful. Scott, Lady Light didn’t kill Dr. Light.”
Wonder Man felt his stomach sink. “Jerrica, did you---?”
“No, oh no! I could have for what he did to Trickshot. It wasn’t me. It was….it Sonic Boom.”
Wonder Man was quiet. Jemstone questioned whether or not she should have told him.
He took her hand and said, “I’m glad you told me. I’m a bit surprised, but I understand why you waited to tell me.”
“Oh Scott, I’m so glad. But, what now? Now that you know---“
“Jerrica, you and I are bonded together. This is a private matter between you and I. Amazon law decrees it. I am bound by my oath to you to keep your secret. I promise you as heir to the royal throne of Paradise Island that it goes no further and may the gods have mercy on anyone who crosses you about this.”
She placed her hand in his. She and Scott had never talked about what it meant for the son of Wonder Woman to marry and she wasn’t up on all of the Amazon traditions. His words comforted her……and scared her at the same time.

The royal embassy of Kahndaq…
Isis and Black Adam were being seated for dinner. They spoke about affairs of state and other items of business. Isis was surprised when Adam presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
“For me!? What’s the occasion?” she asked.
“Do I need a reason?” he said smiling at his wife.
“No, I love flowers from you. “ she said inhaling the scent from the beautiful bouquet.
The two chatted some more and finished their meal. They walked along the terrace and the topic of Dr. Light came up.
“Something isn’t right about this, beloved.” Isis said.
“Not right? I think he got what he deserved, although he should have had a slower, more painful death.”
“Oh—I agree with you, but something….there is something untrue about what our teammates say happened. Adam, I don’t think Lady Light killed Dr. Light.”
“What makes you say that? She is very level headed, and I never thought she was capable of such an act, but even she has her breaking point.”
“True, but the winds…they talk to me sometimes. They speak to me in whispers about what happened.”
Adam took Isis in his arms. “Enough of this. I am just glad you weren’t involved. If anything had happened to you…”
“Shhhhh.” Isis said smiling as she placed a finger on Adam’s lips. She kissed her husband and they retired to their bedroom for the night.

“Didi….you?” Green Lantern gasped.
“Yes. Me. I did it.” Sonic Boom said as she regained her composure.
“But, Lady Light- -“
“I don’t know why she took the blame, but I can’t let her pay for something I did.” Sonic Boom said looking up to the sky.
Green Lantern put his arm around her. He wasn’t sure what to do or what to say. They sat on a large rock that overlooked a stream. “Did you know what you were doing? I mean, do you think you were under duress?” he queried.
“I don’t know. It all happened so fast. I can hear the other girls….it’s all so jumbled. And poor Lian…oh Dan…..I still have nightmares about what he did to her.” She said, her voice breaking.
“He was taunting you. He was coming after you, trying to fight.” Green Lantern said.
“No. No, he had surrendered. He was de-powered, sitting there running his mouth. If you had heard him….seen the gestures he was making.” Sonic Boom’s memory was filling with images of the violent attack on Trickshot. “I killed that trash! He deserved it….and I’d do it again!”
“You don’t mean that.” Green Lantern said.
“I do too! You weren’t there! You didn’t have to watch!!!!!” she screamed. “You didn’t have to worry that you were next! And where was God while this happening!? Answer me that!!” she cried as she pounded Green Lantern’s chest.
“Didi, bad things happen to everyone, but it’s not God’s fault. He despises what Dr. Light did.” He said taking a deep breath. “What happened to Lian….it’s terrible, inhuman.”
“WHY!!!! WHY!!!! Why her? My brother and I….and Lian always said we’d have each other’s backs and I failed her! But I made sure it was right in the end. Dr. Light won’t hurt her anymore.”
Green Lantern held Sonic Boom as she cried for what seemed like hours.
“I’m sorry. “ Sonic Boom finally said in a hushed tone.
“It’s ok. I ‘m glad all this came out. Don’t you feel better?”
“I do. I mean, the other girls knew about it…but we made a pact…I mean, it’s all so hazy. It all happened so fast….They did it to protect me….”
“They love you Didi. You all shared something horrible. Something no one should have to endure.”
“True. But I….I reacted. At that moment I was just an ordinary woman, not Sonic Boom. I have to tell the truth. I have to tell them what I did. Lady Light…she….”
“Didi, we’ll get you through this.”
“But, I took a life. You’re sworn as a Green Lantern to protect it”
Green Lantern was quiet. Finally he said, “We can sort this out later. We need to get to the hall.”

Later at the Hall of Justice…
“What’s this all about? More bad news?” Wonder Girl huffed. “I was trying to do pilates!”
“That’s enough.” Wonder Warrior said as he put a hand over the smart-alecky Amazon’s mouth.
Sonic Boom stood up. Jemstone, Huntress, and Sargona all wondered what she was about to do.
“I…I have to tell you all something.” Sonic Boom started.
“Go ahead. We’re all interested in what you have to say.” Nightvision said.
“Sonic Boom, can’t this wait? We’ve all been through enough. Don’t you want to go home and get some rest?” Sargona said with a frown.
“It’s ok. I know what I’m doing.” Sonic Boom said, glancing over to the girls with whom the pact was made.
“I have to tell the truth. Lady Light didn’t kill Dr. Light. I did.” She said taking a deep breath.
“WHAT!?” Dark Arrow shouted.
The members assembled all gasped.
“Sonic Boom, why are just now telling us this? And you—did you know about this?” Power Guy demanded looking over at the other girls who made the pact.
“Leave them out of this. I acted alone. They wanted to protect me. I take full responsibility for my actions.”
Dark Arrow rushed over to his sister. “Don’t worry. We’ll get you out of this. You weren’t in your right mind. I know your friends will back you up. I bet Dr. Light still had some juice left in him and was about to attack, right?
Sonic Boom’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at her brother.
“Right, sis? Oh God.” He said hugging his sister.
“I think she deserves a medal!” Jemstone shouted. Dr Light was an animal!”

“But that’s not our choice to make.” Power Guy said. “We have laws…and you girls….all covering the truth…….”
“Please. Leave them out of this. I’m turning myself in to the D.A. “ Sonic Boom said as she hung her head.
Several of the girls ran over to hug her.
“No court in this land will find you guilty, girl!” Queen Bee said.
“Yeah, you were just protecting women everywhere.” Wonder Girl said.
Nightvision was quiet and finally said. “ I admire your courage Sonic Boom. I’ll escort you to the D.A’s office.”
“I’ll take care of that, ‘Batman’. She’s my sister.” Dark Arrow said.
“I’ll go too.” Green Lantern said.
Power Guy stood back. He wondered what effect this would have on the team. Would Sonic Boom be found guilty? Bad publicity was something his team did not need. As much as he wanted to run over and tell Sonic Boom it would be ok, he realized he had a team to lead and it was best to remain neutral.

Days later……..
“Well, this is it. I was the last one the D. A. wanted to interview.” The Huntress said to Nightvision and Power Guy.
“How’d it go?” Power Guy asked.
“I told the truth, plain and simple. Something I should have done from the start.” She said glancing over at Nightvision who simply turned his head.
Jemstone, Wonder Man, Green Lantern, Dark Arrow, Sargona, and Hawk Warrior were all assembled too.
“What do you think will happen?” Jemstone asked. “I think we all provided enough documentation that Dr. Light was threatening, plus after what he did—“
“No use speculating. Let the justice system do its job.” Nightvision said in a cold voice.
“What is with you?” Sargona demanded. “Don’t you have any feelings for what happened? Have you even called Roy Harper to check on Lian? Ha! I bet not! All you care about is pinning this on someone, don’t you! I bet if you got cut right now, you’d bleed ice cubes.”
“Sar, that’s enough.” Huntress cautioned.
“Look, we’ve done all we can do. It’s up to the D.A. now to decide if she wants to press charges. What we personally think about it doesn’t make a difference.” Green Lantern said.
“Funny you mention that. Just what do you think?” Dark Arrow asked, a bit suspicious.
“Yeah! You’ve been awfully guarded through this mess. What’s up with you?” Sargona added.
“Guys, come on! You know Green Lantern backs Sonic Boom 100%!” Wonder Man said, taking a sip from a Tab that he got from the vending machine.
“Does he? I’d like to know too.” Jemstone added.
Before Green Lantern could comment, Power Guy said “Here comes Sonic Boom with the D.A.”
“Please be seated.” The D.A. asked.
Jemstone thought the D.A. being female would be helpful to Sonic Boom. The courtroom was empty except for the Titans, the D.A. and a judge. Dr. Light’s grandchildren were allowed in and were sitting in the back corner. Wonder Man had used his father’s pull to keep the preliminary investigation quiet. Steve Trevor was respected in these circles and he was rarely denied any request.
The D. A. stood and said, “Upon examination of the witnesses and testimony of Sonic Boom, I am not pressing charges at this time.”
Sonic Boom sighed in relief. Jemstone and Sargona reached from their seats to hug her.
The D.A. continued, “Although this turned into a bit of an international incident, I will petition for Lady Light to be able to return to the USA. As for the other ladies involved…”
The Huntress perked up at hearing this. “Is she going to be coming after us for conspiracy or for trying to cover this up?”
“As for the other ladies, I believe all of you acted under duress. Dr. Light was a terrible human and having to bear witness to one of his last acts of horror upon a dear friend no less attributed to your actions. Judge, my recommendation is dismissal of this case. The D.A.’s office is satisfied and wishes to close this case. My only recommendation is counseling for Sonic Boom and the other women. What they witnessed is unspeakable.”
“So be it. Case dismissed. “ the judge said, slamming down his gavel.
Kurt Light stood up. “So that’s it? She kills our grandfather in cold blood and everyone is happy? What a joke!”
“That’s enough young man. Let me tell you something about your grandfather. He was involved in one of the first cases I ever tried and he got off on a technicality. I don’t think there was anything redeemable about him.”
Kurt’s sister grabbed his arm and quieted him down.
The Titans all filed out of the courtroom.
“Thank God! It’s over!” Jemstone said hugging Sonic Boom.
“I know, thank you all so much for your support. Now we can focus on getting Lian well.” Sonic Boom said as Sargona hugged her again.
“Yeah celebrate now. Celebrate the murder you got away with. You’ll get yours.” Kurt Light huffed as he and his sister walked past briskly, his sister scowling at the Titans.
Sargona stuck her tongue out at the siblings as they went out the door. “Let’s celebrate Sonic Boom’s freedom!”
“I agree!” Wonder Man said. “There’s a new Greek restaurant—I’ll call ahead!”
“Hold it.” Nightvision said.
“What is it now, Mr. Gloom and Doom?” Jemstone said.
“Power Guy, Wonder Man, Green Lantern, Jemstone, Hawk Warrior, and Sargona…..all founding members of a team sworn to uphold justice. Are you so quick to forget that we never take a life if we can help it? Sonic Boom, as much as I don’t want to do this, I feel you could have stopped Dr. Light without lethal force. Founding members, with you all present I say to you …….Sonic Boom, must resign from the team.”
No one said a word as Sonic Boom’s jaw dropped.
