Titans of Justice Unlimited Chapter 20 – “Terror From The Multiverse Part 4”

Earth-2, Gotham City…
The battle had seemingly turned as the Titans of Justice fell before one of the greatest blasts of energy they had ever seen. Even their powerhouse had fallen to Power Ring. The Syndicate had won, as they wanted to.
It all came down to them leaving. The Syndicate of Terror left the remnants of their battle behind, forgetting about the bloodlust, and leaving the cold bodies of the Titans in the gravel. Surely they were all dead.
Yet they were not. Power Guy was the first to awaken. His eyes opened slowly, and his limbs felt heavy, he pushed himself up to discover the mess they’d made. He knew that it was foolish to blame himself, but the Guy of Steel’s brow furrowed with rage as he walked over his nearest ally and tried to raise them.
He raised the only one he could at the time, the Emerald Warrior, Green Lantern. The bald hero got up, and found himself groggy. The whites of his eyes flashed as he realized what had happened.
Power Guy frowned, disgruntled as he looked to see their enemies escape. He considered following them, but he was in no condition to.
They also outnumbered him and had more power of their side. The leader of the Titans of Justice only grunted as his teammates got up.
“So, this is not being a success then?” Rocket Red laughed, the Russian super-hero was more than happy to make a good joke on those he considered his friends. Rocket Red seemed to smile beneath his helmet, but who could tell?
“In another fifteen minutes Red, you and I will be back on our Earth. We need to stop those creeps now, before things get out of control. Otherwise, we’re gone, leaving this Earth unprotected from a threat we should have put down long ago.” Power Guy said, he seemed to be forcing his theory out, so someone would agree with him.
“Shut up, Power Guy.” Came a deep growl, the injured Nightvision limped towards the group. “You and the others don’t need to do anything, this fight wasn’t meant for you. The ones who were brought here were brought here for a reason.” Nightvision managed to say through gritted teeth.
“Nightvision, I know you’re in pain, and angry about failing, but right now this team is under my command.” Power Guy said, looking for back-up on this.
“Green Lantern and I are more than qualified to lead an attack against our enemies. You’ve only got fifteen minutes left, you and the Global Guardians should just leave, we’ll pop back home soon enough. Let us do what we were trained to do.” Nightvision said, pushing past Power Guy.
“You’re wounded.”
“So? I’m Nightwing’s son. I think I can handle it.” Nightvision scoffed, he showed signs of pain with each step, but he seemed to prove his point. The fight wasn’t intended for Power Guy.
Wonder Girl was the first to side with him, followed by Wonder Warrior, then by Hawkgirl and Starman. Even Nucleus followed him. All of the original abducted heroes did, except for Green Lantern.
“No. Nightvision, you may want to exclude people here, but I don’t agree with you. If anything, we should try to help out here. Fix the damage and save lives. You’re going after a vendetta.” Green Lantern said, he clearly felt that his place wasn’t with his fellow abductees.
“Then I’ll go with.” Came the voice of Power Storm, the son of Firestorm flew to Nightvision’s side. “You’ll need someone to take down Power Ring, I’m your man. Besides, I won’t be of much use here.”
“Power Storm you can’t be serious!” Power Guy said, looking at the small team ready to continue fighting, despite their weakened states, and they clearly wanted to do it alone. “Nightvision, don’t you want to exclude him anyway?”
“No. GL’s out, Power Storm’s in. The difference is, he volunteered to help, not takeover.” Nightvision grunted.
With that, Nightvision’s team was off. Being flown in an invisible floating bubble of Wonder Warrior’s creation.

New Earth, Keystone City, the Flash Museum…
Wally West looked over his guests, Rising Sun, Crimson Fox and the Arachnid. The Arachnid had been lost in the Justice League room, swooning over the exploits of the International League, while the two Global Guardians walked with the former Flash as he led them through his museum. The retired speedster was more than happy to sit on the sidelines. After all, he had passed the baton off and never looked back. Wally was now waiting however. Normally a fine thing for a normal person, but things were moving far too slowly for Wally now. He continued on, telling his guests all about the legacy his daughter continued. He moved through exhibits, all to keep his mind off the return of the Titans and the Global Guardians. The red-haired man opened his mouth and let slip a passage explaining the great legacy he once upheld with his entire life.

Earth-3, The Injustice Unlimited’s HQ…
The Syndicate returned to Injustice Unlimited’s headquarters almost instantly, not having anywhere else to go. By now, Infinity Inc. had come and gone, and the Injustice team was long put in jail. It made it easy for the eight man strong team to maneuver. They sat around waiting for Miniscule to come up with a device to return them home. After all, they had already won.
The Syndicate sat around enjoying their victory before they heard the scurrying from above. From the shadows came a foe they had thought themselves ridded of.
Nightvision landed before them, a confident smirk stuck on his face. The Dark Wonder of Gotham raised his fists, and slammed them into his doppelganger the brightly dressed Daysight. The two amazing acrobats fought in their own little corner.
The walls of the dark HQ collapsed under fire of the mighty Cosmic Rod and its possessor. Starman stood with Power Storm as the two heroes started blasting their way through the Syndicate, finding the men they wanted. Cosmos fell before Starman’s blasts in no time flat.
Power Storm found Power Ring and fired a blast of energy at him, made from the water molecules in the air. The room suddenly got very dry, but it didn’t bother the son of Firestorm.
Hawkgirl and Wonder Girl found themselves in the unlawful place, and easily found their counterparts.
Nucleus found Miniscule at sub-atomic size, and soon straightened him out. Using the size changing abilities they both shared and using them against Miniscule in a creative display of power and mind over matter. Nucleus shrunk to a height not feasible and hit Miniscule in the nose. The Tiny Titan’s successor grew to normal size, Miniscule in his hands to see the Syndicate sprawled across the base his teammates standing over the fallen villains, showing their triumphant stand.
Miniscule slipped out of Nucleus’ hands before he knew what was happening, and ran into Power Storm, who disappeared into the multiverse before he knew he’d been hit. Miniscule grabbed onto a hidden machine and pressed a button.
The Titans saw an amazing display. Earth after Earth after Earth. They couldn’t count them, but for some reason they all knew the number.
“52…”

New Earth, The Flash Museum…
The full Titans team landed in the Flash Museum, finding themselves back home. The five Global Guardians reunited, and only asked for a ride back to the Dome. Some of the team showed a bit of mistrust and a lot of dislike after the events that transpired.
“Mister West, thank you for your help. Feel free to drop by anytime.” Power Guy said to the former Flash. “I’ll tell your daughter you said hi.”
“You do that.” Wally West smiled. “You also tell her how proud I am of her. Doing the right thing.”
“Will do, Mister West.” Power Guy said, as he led the Titans and Guardians out to the Javelin.

The Hall of Justice, Later…
“We need to talk.” Power Guy said to a recovering Nightvision. “What you did today, you undermined my authority.”
“It was mainly the pain talking. I wanted a bit of revenge too.” Nightvision explained, “I also just didn’t want you interfering. Did you and GL save lives like he said you would?”
“Yeah, we did. He was right, you were right. Splitting the team did a lot of good. I even met Infinity Inc. except, Silver Scarab was just plain crabby man.” Power Guy laughed, he found himself a seat as he sat with Nightvision.
“How’s Supergirl?” Nightvision asked, looking around. Even though he was put into pajamas while he recovered, he refused to take off his mask.
“I don’t know. I really don’t. It’s starting to worry me. We keep playing phone-tag. I almost wonder if she’s avoiding me.” Power Guy said, looking at the TV hanging in the infirmary. “I don’t even know why she quit the team.”
“Maybe she thought she could do better on her own. Maybe she just couldn’t take it. We went through hell man. Especially when we lost you, GL, and the rest of your gang.” Nightvision solemnly said, “Tell anyone I’ve got feelings and I’m not a reflection of the Bat, and I’ll stuff a ton of Kryptonite down your throat.”
“That’s just the pain talking.” Power Guy laughed.

Starman’s Room…
“You made a bet with Ice Warrior?” Starman asked as he looked at the Arachnid. “Why did you make a bet with him. He’s a nice guy, but you know he’ll do anything to win.”
“The bet’s to pretend we’re gay for a week. We can totally do that. That Phantom Lady loon thinks we are already.” The Arachnid laughed. “C’mon, we can win it.”
“No.” Starman responded. “Just no, man. Now shut up and watch Family Guy.”
“Hey it’s the Giant Chicken! Get him chicken!” The Arachnid roared.
“Hit ‘im Peter, you can do it!” Starman yelled.
“Wait…you want Peter to win?” The Arachnid asked, turning to his constant partner in crime.
“Wait…you don’t want Peter to win?” Starman said, turning to the Arachnid.
Whoever threw the first punch never landed one again as the sounds of yelling, swearing and brawling filled the hallway around all the rooms. Disturbing the peace. A pretty typical night for the Titans, probably why so many of them refuse to sleep in those rooms they hate the noise made by the Spider-Star Team.
