The Arachnid was bound and chained while being led out of his cell, his fate was clear. This was the day they shot the Arachnid. He was marched forward as the enemy of an entire planet. Thanagar had decided he would be shot as an enemy before millions of the population.
“You, known only as Arachnid, are hereby found guilty of attacking a Thanagarian official, impersonating a general of Kranaltine’s army, and the murder of the delegate of Rann. Your fate is to be shot as an enemy of the government.” An official presiding over the shooting clearly said, so all could hear.
“It is tradition to ask for any last requests that don’t require your freedom.”
“Yeah…I have a few. First, can someone tell my parents I’m on a secret mission? And second, can someone explain to me how I got here? I can’t for the life of me figure out how I ended up in this position.” The Arachnid said, fearing the worst already. He wasn’t sure if the phasers’ blasts could penetrate his armor but he sure as hell knew he didn’t want to find out!

Six Hours Ago, the Rannagarian Rebellion Base…
Aleea Strange laid down next to Scott Stone. They were in her quarters, and to put it lightly ‘had just spent the night together’. I won’t get into the Birds and the Bees, but, well, I’m sure you know what happened.
“I’m horrible at small-talk.” Aleea said, getting out of the bed and walking into the bathroom, both to shower and change back into her clothes. Scott just laid there. He couldn’t believe what just happened. He spent the night with a beautiful girl, in a relationship that could lead somewhere and he was amazed. He was clearly smitten by Aleea. When it dawned on him that it was morning, and the Arachnid and Booster caught on to what was happening, he knew he’d hear the most immature teasing in the world.
Scott got up, and quickly slipped into his costume, grabbing the Cosmic Rod laid across the table on the far side of the room, and getting his coat on, he saw Aleea come out the bathroom, and dropped everything.
She had her front zip down just enough to give herself a bit of cleavage, clearly for Scott’s entertainment.
“Uh…hi.” Scott managed to say, blushing wildly.
“Hi.” Aleea laughed. “You’re going so soon?”
“I need to get back. The Arachnid’s probably figured out what’s happened already. He’s not always dumb, y’know.” Scott laughed, pulling on his mask, and slipping on his jacket. He grasped his cosmic rod and decided to get closer to her. He moved swiftly and pecked her on the cheek.
“Maybe we can do something tonight?” He asked, with a nervous smile, shrugging before he exited the room. The minute he was out, he flew down the halls, yelling with joy. For once, everything was going just right.

The Arachnid’s and Starman’s Shared Room…
“Hey-a roomie!” Scott said walking through the door, grinning like the cheshire cat, he simply couldn’t stop.
“Hey Joker-Face! How’d the important ‘meeting’ go?” The Arachnid snickered. “I’ll bet it worked up a real sweat.” He came out laughing, he sounded like a lunatic, clearly enjoying this little moment.
“Just because Booster rejected you doesn’t mean you have to take it out on my new relationship!” Starman retorted, deciding to annoy his partner in crime…fighting right back.
“I am not gay! Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I’m not!” The Arachnid said, flabbergasted at the very idea!
“I know. But ruffling your feathers seems to take you off topic.” Starman laughed, his new goggles seemed to light up in a show of affection. “Besides, I never get to do that properly. You always get in the snide remarks.”
“Because that’s all I got! You got two girls nuts about you! Two! I got a court case!” The Arachnid screamed. “With an old geezer suing me!” The Arachnid mumbled.
“Calm down.” Starman laughed, “You’ll get something eventually. Maybe a big fat check, huh?”
“Ooh, a check!” The Arachnid smiled, “That’s better than…no, wait, real money’s better.” The Arachnid mumbled, he started to pace, trying to figure out if he liked cash or checks better.
THOOOM!!!
“What was that!” Starman screamed, the loud banging soon became constantly louder and louder. The ceilings caved in, fear stuck itself on the heroes’ faces. A yellow bubble saved them from the rubble, and Booster Gold stood proudly, still in the Rannian armor, save the helmet.
The old time hero from the future smiled, he was in a bubble himself surrounded by as many soldiers and rebels he could possibly save. A sigh of relief passed Scott’s lips as Aleea was among them.
“Aleea and Spaceman sitting in a tree…K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” The Arachnid bellowed, laughing as much as possible. Scott thought he may as well have had green hair and ruby lips.
It soon became obvious who was the cause of this, as a green glow surrounded all the materials around them, floating them into the air, and making a giant coliseum. The sky was filled with loyal Wingmen, and aliens Scott didn’t even recognize. Clearly representing the Polaris System, as the High-Chancellor extended his presence.
In the middle of all this was the High Chancellor, dressed in a dark robed version of the common Green Lantern costume, and besides him, Supernova. The two clear crooks sneered as Booster fields dropped.
Soon Wingmen swerved around, striking each other, Rannians also bolted into the air, firing on the enemy. The Delegates of the Polaris system landed feet away from Booster, Starman, Arachnid and Aleea, who didn’t have her battle-suit with her, it was lost under rubble.
“Rebels to the order of Thanagar,” A lizard like delegate hissed, “It is noted that you have broken the Rann-Thanagar treaty. We, the Delegates of the Polaris system note this, and will bring in our armies if needed.”
A blue blast of energy hit the delegate in the throat, he fell to the ground, coughing up blood. He soon seemed to shrivel up.
Booster Gold was already in the air, during the delegate’s little speech, he went to attack Supernova, determined to take him down. After all, the problems he caused were greater than anything he could imagine.
“Murderer!” A delegate screamed, pointing at the Arachnid. “Enemy of the Polaris System. We would have listened to the Rebellion’s case, but now, we see. You are murderous thieves!”
“Now, I didn’t actually steal anything, I just blasted him. He should be alive! Everyone shakes that off!” The Arachnid said, actually feeling remorse over his actions.
The last things he noticed were simple, before he could react, a wall fell on top of Starman and Aleea, the worst was all the Arachnid could wait for. Supernova and Booster Gold disappeared into the Time-Stream, and there he was.
All alone, having just killed a man. He found himself in chains, and that was how he ended up with the sentence of being shot.

Three Hours Ago, The High Chancellor’s Chambers…
“You did an amazing job.” The High Chancellor praised. Looking at the lizard like delegate, “You chameleons are good. Never fear, the real delegate is to be buried, you’re relieved of your duty.”
“Thank you Chancellor, I know you got the wrong Earth hero, but, the son of Gavyn is surely crushed under that wall you toppled on him.” The Chameleon laughed. “I must return to my world, so my business can finally begin, with this on unofficial record, I will be hired for replacements a lot more. You truly are a saint, Chancellor.”
“Thank you.”

Two Hours Ago, The remains of the Rannagarian Rebellion Base…
A large piece of rubble lifted itself off the ground, and flung itself away, letting Scott Stone and Aleea Strange free from the weight. Scott had managed to hold it in place, before finally being able to get rid of the rubble that fell on them.
Covered in dust, the couple looked at each other.
“This wasn’t what I had in mind when I said we should do something tonight.” Scott smiled. He ached all over, and saw the losses, there were many Rannians and Thanagarians rushing the wounded off, and trying to find all survivors.
“When my father told me to come to Rann, I never thought it’d be like this.” Scott said, pulling his mask off, he showed his bruised face, tears welling up.
“The Arachnid, his blast…there’s no way it killed that delegate. He’s certain to get a death sentence.” Aleea coughed. She looked at Scott, “He’s your friend. We can save him, if we can get the ships out of this rubble.”

Now…
“Ready…Aim…Fire!” The official said, as the firing squad did as he commanded. Thanagarian phasers went off, and every single blast hit the Arachnid.
In a few short moments, the people of the Polaris System got what they wanted. In a smoking heap was the Arachnid.
Two men picked up his body, and carried it off. Taking it to a large hole, where all the executed were put, as their final punishment. The two men walked slowly, and made sure everyone got a good look at the Arachnid. Still smoking from the blasts, and laying limp.
By the time he was out of sight, and closer to the hole, he moved, kicking the second man, holding onto his legs, and hitting the first with his chained arms.
“That really really hurt!” The Arachnid mumbled, he arms glowed blue as his cuffs shattered. He held his wrists and started to rotate them. “I could’ve done without that experience thank you very much!”
“I got shot in space! I killed a lizard and got shot!” The Arachnid mumbled, he looked out to see the Polaris System masses leave. He waited until all were gone, and went out to the place he got shot.
“I’ve really got to thank fate, who’d have thought being permanently bonded to an alien scarab would ever come in handy?” The Arachnid laughed, “Still. I never want to do that again.”
