Titans West Chapter 13 - "The Other Side of Everything Part 3"

An outer wing of the Belle Reve. Prison Annex¡¦

"What a firm little pumpkin you are,’ observed Granny Goodness as she massaged Green Lantern’s shoulders. “But you’re going to be a lot firmer before Granny’s done with you.’

Green Lantern felt his stomach sink. “Oh. Dear. God!’ he thought to himself. “This has to be a nightmare. This has to be a nightmare,’ he tried to convince himself.

“Don’t be so rude to your beloved Granny. Say something boy,’ requested the old hag.

“Are you really a woman?’ asked the former Starman in disbelief.

Granny looked at Green Lantern sternly. His comment had irritated her immensely. “You wound Granny with such a statement but not as much as Granny’s girls are going to wound you”.

Outside-.

A helicopter landed in the midst of all of the chaos. A few minutes later, Amanda Waller and her Task Force X exited.

“Ok boys and girls, let’s try and put a lid on this mess before the Titans do. I want all of those prisoners back in their cells before sundown,’ ordered Waller. While she wasn’t used to being in the field with her crew, the situation at the Annex was already out of control and she felt the need to be onsite to make sure it was taken care of as quickly as possible. She dressed for the part, wearing an exo-skeleton to help enhance her strength and speed. She also had a variety of weapons with her such a dense club, stun grenades, and an energy rifle.

As her team dispersed themselves, she looked around trying to find the best place to set up a “central command post’ but her thoughts were interrupted by voices coming from the outer wing near-by.

Wasting no time, she made her way over to the wing only to find Green Lantern, Granny Goodness, and the Female Furies.

“Ok girls, show this pup what happens to those who disrespect your dear old Granny!’ ordered the Apokolipitan matriarch.

Before the Furies could act on Granny’s command, the “Wall’ made her presence known. “Hands off harpies!’ she said pointing her energy rifle at the Furies.

Granny turned to see who dared interrupt her entertainment. “YOU!!!!’

“Well it’s nice to see your memory hasn’t failed you, you old witch,’ spat Waller. “I still owe you a few licks for what you did to my sister Flo years ago,’ she said, directing her rifle in Goodness’ direction. “Now keep your paws off the Green Lantern. As cute as he may be, I don’t you’re his type.’

“Why everyone loves Granny, you bloated cow,’ remarked the silver-haired villainess.

“Really? Then you should have one heck of a turn-out at your funeral!’ Waller said firing her gun at Goodness.

Kid Marvel faced Tharok. His left eye had a small cut. Whatever heat this Tharok was packing was enough to hurt even a member of the famed Marvel family.

“Come on Tharok!’ he staggered to his feet, keeping an arrogant tone. “It’s not like I never got any practice with this sort of thing.’

He studied Tharok’s cybernetically enhanced body. It was roughly put together with what seemed like pieces of scrap metal. Gears were whirring and spinning under metal latches and beams sewn into flesh. Circuitry was exposed and small blue lights lined the undersides of certain chipsets embedded into his body.

That’s when he decided, “I’m gonna take this guy apart!’ Kid Marvel sped towards Tharok, grabbed him by the latch on his neck and flew upward.

“Crazy kid! What are you trying to do???’ Tharok yelled.

The old Marvel tradition, that’s was what he was going for. “SHAZAM!’ he quickly raised Tharok to the sky and ZAAAAAAAAAP!

“Hahahaha? Tharok laughed as the smoke cleared around them. Foolish kid, I run on this sort of thing!’

Kid Marvel was aghast, but not for long, he delivered quick one two blows to the villain, letting him fall as he hit. Tharok didn’t miss a beat either- he zapped Kid Marvel with whatever he had as they fell from the sky.

Cybernetic bees of different kinds attacked each other in mid-air as their mistresses struggled against each other. “You fake! Do you think I’ll let you tarnish the royalty that is Queen Bee?’ She flung Queen Bee to the side.
“Tarnish? You’re outdated! Face it sister, your time has long been over.’ She made quick jabs to the villainess with her arm-mounted stingers.

“Really now? Then why is it that I’ both swarms of bees circled the villainess Queen Bee, “have power over your bees?’

Queen Bee’s mouth gaped, “But with the failsafes! How?’

The bees formed into a large ring, QueenBee knew what was going to happen, the villain was going to try sick all the bees on her!

“With this newer technology you speak of. I can command legions to do my bidding!’ The bees spun and slowly closed in on the women. In a blink the bees had made their move. They engulfed the villain Queen Bee Soon zaps of electronic power and muffled screams were heard under the black and gold mess.

“Well, I did tell you didn’t I? You’re outdated!’ Queen Bee had manipulated the bees!

CLAP. CLAP. Awwesome moves Stingbabe!’ Power Lad had been leaning against a wall watching the whole scene.

“What on earth are you doing here?’ QueenBee, annoyed that the kid had just been watching spat.

“Hey, don’t get all snippy. You were more than capable of kicking her sorry¡¦’

“What are you doing here?’

Power Lad composed himself. “Here ta help. Brought the gang too!’

“Why won’t you quit?’ Supergirl cut her way through the vines that seemed to have a major crush on her. The vines just whipped their way towards her and kept coming. Every time she knocked one down, two more would come after her.

Wonder Man wasn’t having much luck either. Super-strength just isn’t enough when there are hundreds of vines snapping at you. “Ivy! Give up! You know you won’t last long here.’

Poison Ivy’s prison garb was in tatters “You know I was beginning to think you wouldn’t visit me at all since you made me check in here.’ Her vines kept creeping from the foliage around. “Glad to see I was wrong.:

BAMF “Hnhh.’ Poison Ivy fell to the ground. The Sportsmaster had jabbed her spine from behind with one end of his bat. “I thought women had better peripheral vision.’

Frost surveyed the damage. Isis was approaching and coming up behind her. Arachnid and Nightvision were now battling with the new Toyman who has liberated some of his pogo guns from the prison roundup.

“What chaos!’ Isis had just come form a major battle of her own, dealing with a crazed Weather Witch.

Frost, tired from his bout with Heatwave, which left him with a few burns, looked around to see where he could fit next. He wondered if he had delegated the team right? It also bothered him that he wasn’t keeping in touch with the members. “True, but we have no time to discuss it. We have to move.’ He spotted Jemstone on top of the building struggling to save a hostage from a mohawked woman.

Lashina and the other furies made their way out of the building. Amanda Waller was still inside being tied up by Stompa. Granny Goodness was still clutching onto Green Lantern, “Let me go, you big green cow!’ He couldn’t break free of the yellow cord that restrained him. “A while ago that would’ve been insulting. But I’ve chosen to overlook your faults and focus on your stronger points.’ She pinched him in the cheeks. “Lashina, how’s the mechanism coming along.’

“Let’s give it one more minute,’ She said, fiddling with the controls of the mother box. “By the way, thanks for breaking me out Granny!’

“Granny always cares for her students,’ grinned the twisted old woman. “And lucky for you, I was able to Boom-tube that bomb that was attached to your brain out to the heart of the sun.’

“You really let me need to kill the Wall for putting it there,’ insisted Lashina.

“Where do you think you’re going?’ Kid Comet was in the hallway just in front of the entrance, blocking their way. “Don’t like the place? They’ve got killer room service.’

He telekinetically grabbed hold of two metal chairs and slammed one into Bernadeth, the other into Mad Harriet. Wunda came at him hands blazing with light. She was gonna make her move. Not before a desk came intercepted her from the left.

Supergirl entered the building, followed by Arachnid and Power Lad.

“It’s all over.?Kid Comet smirked.

The downed furies got up and lunged at the heroes, while Lashina worked with the Mother Box’s mechanism.

Wonder Man spotted Amanda Waller inside a room in the building. She was bound to a chair as Stompa guarded behind the door. Timing it perfectly, Wonder Man broke through the door and wrapped his lasso around her. “Arrnh!’

“You sure know how to do quick work,’ Waller said.

“Save it. If it were up to me, I’d leave you here with the furies. But that’s not how we work,’ Wonder Man spat as he untied her bonds.

“l say thanks anyway. Guess the routine check report’s going to need a lot of writing up,’ She stood up massaging her aching wrists.

“Is that all you’re here for?’ Wonder Man shouted after her as she exited.

“More or less!’

Palome had landed just beside Frost. Most of the villains had been rounded up. Except for Magpie and whoever else was still in the building and a couple more outside that the rest of the Titans were still contending with.

Frost saw Magpie’s back as she struggled with something. She was in the darker corners of the roof deck, among supplies. Palome could feel something strange was in the air, “That’s odd!’

Frost had a clear shot and was going for it.

Palome realized what was happening.

“No wait!’ Jemstone screamed. “No!!!’

He deep-froze Magpie in her tracks. “No!’ Palome exclaimed. “What did you do?’ Frost stepped up to check what Palome was talking about. There Magpie was frozen clinging to another woman. “Oh no!!

The Invisible Jet landed just in front of the car as Amanda Waller was about to get in.

“We need to talk,’ Wonder Warrior came up to her, cape billowing in the wind.
“Oh, yes, I got your message. I do plan to fully exploit the Spider-boy’case, there’s no secret in that.

“I don’t think you know who you’re dealing with, Waller,’ Wonder Warrior said in a grim tone.

“I don’t think you’re in any position to make threats. You’re not even the leader of the Titans West division any longer,’ Waller retorted.

“But I am part of the Amazon race. And you and your petty political maneuvering mean nothing to me.’ He stepped closer to her.

If I even hear rumors that you used your influence to affect the Arachnid’s trial in any way. I WILL sic the Amazon force on you. That is not a threat. Think of it as the natural order of events. Do you think your petty scare tactics will work on me, I
have family on the east coast, under the Employment Protection Program,’ Wonder Warrior smirked.

He could swear Amanda’s eyes widened ever so slightly. She would never fully show emotion.

“We’re not done.” she said as she got in the car and drove off.

* * *

“Fine, you can have her once again. But we will be back!” The Female Furies, badly beaten had no choice but to trade Lashina for their escape back to Apokolips “But rest assured, we will have her back! And you’re going to suffer greatly for this.” Granny Goodness bellowed as the injured Furies made their way into the boom tube, save for Lashina who was being held onto by Kid Comet and Supergirl.

Frost, and Jemstone entered the room followed by Palome who was carrying a frozen woman in her arms.

“Who’s that? Is that… Jemstone?” Isis was shocked.

“I made a miscalculation,” Frost stated.

“But you’re here and you’re there???” Arachnid was baffled, clearly.

Suddenly a golden light bathed the room, just as Wonder Man and Wonder Warrior made their way to where everyone was.

The helmet of Nabu.



“Fate?” Frost exclaimed! A swirl of light appeared below him and soon the body of the Lord Fate appeared in full.

“Frost, Wonder Warrior, the signs are upon us. There is something we need to discuss.”
