Star City, U.S.A.
Green Lantern soared through the sky. He coasted along a gentle breeze from the north heading towards the home of Robert Queen—the second-generation hero known Dark Arrow. “I’ll be there any minute,” he thought. “I hope he’s home.” While focused on Dark Arrow, he could not get the thought of his upcoming date with Sargona out of his mind. “She’s so beautiful and independent. I just hope I don’t blow it with her tomorrow night.” He then glanced down and noticed the Queen estate below him. He descended upon the grounds and made his way up to the front door, where he rang the doorbell and waited for an answer.
A few moments later, the front door opened but it was not Robert Queen who opened it but his sister, Dinah III. “Dan!” she yelled in excitement as she threw her arms around Green Lantern. “Long time no see!”
“Di Di!” Green Lantern uttered with joy. “It’s good to see you! When did you get back from Hawaii?”
“Last week and believe it or not, I haven’t put on my mask since!” she replied. “Oracle told me to take a few weeks off but I’m starting to get a little bored.”
“Oh, I’m sure a few weeks vacation won’t hurt. You deserve it after all of the hard work you and your friends do in the Birds of Prey,” complimented Green Lantern.
“I take it you’re here to see Rob?” asked Di Di.
“Yeah, I haven’t heard from him in weeks,” replied Green Lantern.
“Follow me,” instructed Di Di. She led Green Lantern through the Queen mansion into its library. In it sat Robert Queen reading the morning newspaper.
Robert noticed them as they walked in the room. “Dan! How’s it going pal?” he said as he greeted Green Lantern. He extended his hand for a handshake with the green guardian.
“Not bad Rob, but I’ve been kind of worried about you,” commented Green Lantern.
“Why?” inquired Rob
“Well, I think we’ve only spoken once since the Titans of Justice formed. It seems like you and I play phone-tag more than anything else these days,” answered Green Lantern.
“I’ve just been busy managing Queen Corp. with my parents,” Robert said, trying to put his friend at ease. “I’m not really all that keen on being a full-time superhero like you and Di Di.”
“Well, we could always use another hero of your caliber on the team. Would you reconsider?” requested Green Lantern.
“Not a chance,” declined Rob. “I don’t think it’s a good idea for large groups of heroes to get together. It’s sends a very disturbing message to the rest of the world.”
Di Di then interrupted. “Well, I’d certainly be glad to take your place if you’re going to be so paranoid about this.”
Green Lantern stood speechless for a few seconds as he assumed Rob would change his mind and join the Titans at his request. While disappointed by Rob’s rejection, the thought of filling his spot with Sonic Boom seemed like an acceptable compromise. “Are you sure about this Di Di? Oracle keeps you pretty busy.”
“Not busy enough and besides, it would be nice to fight alongside some men for a change,” replied Di Di. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my girls but when you get more than two ladies together, things can get a little catty... if you know what I mean.”
“Yeah, I guess,” replied Green Lantern, trying to put himself in Di Di’s shoes. Before he could say another word, his signal device went off. “Uh oh! Something’s up!” Green Lantern held his communicator close to his mouth. “This is Green Lantern, go ahead!”
“GL – it’s Celsius,” responded the Titans’ leader over the transmission. “There’s a woman calling herself the Star Sapphire and she’s trashing Coast City demanding you come and meet her! We need your help...”

Many miles away in Gotham City...
The new Huntress was on the hunt for False Face after he committed a deadly robbery at the Gotham City branch of Star Labs. The shape-changing villain had stolen a newly developed liquid that, once sprayed on a metahuman, could negate their powers for roughly three hours. He had made his way to the Six Flags Amusement Park on the outskirts of the city.
The Huntress was careful to move slowly through the shadows at the amusement park. She thought to herself, “With all of the weird displays, statues, and merchandise around the park, he could be hiding anywhere. I’ll find him though. I took down Scream Queen by myself. This should only be a notch or two more difficult.” She made her way into haunted house exhibit. After a few moments, she emerged with no success. “D_mn it False Face, where are you???”
“Right here, whore!” shouted False Face as he revealed himself as being the stairway to the haunted house. He had changed himself from a stairway into his pure clay form but enlarged himself to twenty feet tall.
The Huntress was quick to fire several arrows from her crossbow at the shape-shifting villain. The arrows all were filled with liquid nitrogen. One of the arrows struck False Face’s left arm, freezing it solid.
“Aghh....my arm!!!” shrieked the villain in an immense amount of pain.
“Is no longer attached!” gloated the Huntress as she did a drop-kick that severed the frozen limb from False Face’s body. “I suggest you give up before you’re simply a head and a torso!”
“Fool!” growled False Face as he turned his head and focused on where his arm was. He then concentrated and grew it back. “It’s going to take more than your puny arrows to take me down!” He then turned both of his hands into giant spiked maces. “Let’s see how well you handle sharp objects lady!” He started swinging towards the Huntress in an attempt to maim her.
“Get away from her False Face!!!” came the voice of Power Guy. The blonde muscular hero flew into the malleable villain knocking him several yards back.
“Huntress, are you alright?” asked Nightvision as he stepped out of the shadows.
“I’m fine,” the Huntress assured. “Things just took a turn for the unexpected here.”
“So I can see,” said Nightvision as they watched Power Guy pummel False Face.
“Give it up False Face,” ordered Power Guy. “Your changing faces routine isn’t enough to stop me.”
False Face was struggling to counter Power Guy’s attack. He tried to turn fluid to allow Power Guy’s fists to pass right through him but then Power Guy used his heat-vision to dry up False Face’s body back to a solid consistency.
“You think you’re so tough, huh muscle boy?” questioned the villain. “Let’s see what happens when I enter your body through your ear lobe and apply an extreme amount of pressure to your brain!”
Nightvision overheard False Face’s comment and rushed over to help his friend. “Not this time False Face!” he shouted throwing, a cryogenic bomb at the villain. The bomb exploded upon the impact of hitting False Face’s body. Within seconds his entire body was frozen solid and he was helpless.
“Well, thank you gentlemen,” complimented the Huntress. “I’ll be going now.”
“Not so fast... Helena...” said Nightvision as he revealed the Huntress’ first name.
“What??? How did you...” asked the Huntress in a state of panic.
“Come off it, we’ve known each other for years,” Nightvision said trying to calm her down.
“I suppose so... Brendon,” agreed the Huntress revealing the she also knew Nightvision’s secret identity.
“Why are you doing this?” asked Nightvision, waving his arm at the defeated villain.
“For the same reason you are,” replied the Huntress. “I’m picking up where my dad left off.”
“I can understand that,” agreed Nightvision. “But as you can see from the events here today, you still have a lot to learn.”
“And are you going to teach me?” asked the Huntress challengingly.
“Yes I will, and so will the rest of the Titans of Justice,” responded Nightvision. “Consider yourself inducted.”
“Hmm... ok but only because your friend here is so cute.” She traced the contours of Power Guy’s face with her gloved finger.
“Who me?” asked Power Guy
“Well, I certainly wasn’t talking about mud face over there,” the Huntress said with a smirk on her face.

Coast City U.S.A.
Soaring in a giant green power bubble, Green Lantern and Sonic Boom had made their way over many miles to Green Lantern’s hometown. The emerald guardian was perplexed as to who this new Star Sapphire could be, as Carol Ferris was his mother and had shaken off the addiction to the bewitching jewel many years ago. The other three former holders of the jewel, the Queen of Seventh Dimension, Dela Pharon, and Deborah Camille Darnell were either dead or hadn’t been seen in years.
Sonic Boom noticed that her partner had been silent for the majority of their trip. “GL – is everything okay? You’ve been kind of quiet.”
“Yes, I’m fine. I’m just trying to figure out who could be posing as this new Star Sapphire. It’s unlikely she’s any of their previous bearers of the mantle.”
“Maybe the Zamarons have picked a new queen?” suggested Sonic Boom.
“Could be… but what would she want with me?” wondered Green Lantern.
“Looks like we’re about to find out!” shouted Sonic Boom pointing downward.
Down below Star Sapphire hovered over the remains of a prominent gentleman’s club. It was obvious she had destroyed the building as there was still smoke and crumbling wreckage.
Green Lantern gazed down at his new opponent and saw the destruction she had caused. He then noticed the fallen bodies of Celsius, Strato Hawk, and Junjie Quick.
“Oh no!” he cried out. “She’s taken out the team!”
“She must be one tough cookie to take your friends down!” commented Sonic Boom.
Before Green Lantern or Sonic Boom could act however, a vision of Ganthet, one of the Guardians of the Universe, appeared before them.
The small blue man spoke to Green Lantern, “Greetings Green Lantern of sector 2814.”
“Hello Ganthet,” greeted the other. “I hope I’m not being rude, but now’s not a good time to chat. We have a new Star Sapphire.”
“That is impossible,” countered Ganthet. “The Zamorons’ gem was locked away in our dangerous substances vault. Only a very powerful force could have broken in there. The Zamorons are not capable of such a feat. If you are truly facing a new Star Sapphire, someone else gave her the gem.” The guardian looked pensive. “I fear I have more bad news. Sinestro has escaped from the power battery. He killed four other Green Lanterns in the process. Keep a watchful eye.”
Green Lantern shook his head in irritation. “Just what we need: Sinestro and a new Star Sapphire on the loose. Thanks Ganthet.”
Wishing the best for Daniel Jordan, the vision of Ganthet dissipated.
Green Lantern lowered Sonic Boom to the ground and asked, “Would you check on my friends while I try to contain her?”
“Consider it done GL,” affirmed Sonic Boom. “Don’t worry. We’ll take care of Sinestro and Star Sapphire.”
Before Green Lantern could act however, he heard another voice calling out to him.
“Green Lantern! Green Lantern!”
The emerald crusader turned and saw Starman making his way towards him.
“Starman? You’re okay?” asked Green Lantern.
“Yeah, I just got here,” replied rookie Titan. “I was in the shower when the Trouble Alert went off at the Hall so Celsius told me to catch up when I was done.”
“Well, I’m glad to have you here,” advised Green Lantern. “I’m not sure who that lady is over there but if she’s got the Star Sapphire gem, we could be in for some major trouble!”
“No worries, I’ve been training with Nightvision and Celsius. I’ll stop her!” Starman uttered as he flew towards the mystery villainess.
Star Sapphire was still reveling in her victory over destroying the gentleman’s club. “Hahaha! A ‘Gentleman’s Club’ you call this? For years men have put women on display for entertainment and sexual desire! You were no ‘gentlemen’! Now these fools have paid with their lives!!!”
“Halt Star Sapphire!” shouted a somewhat confident Starman. “You now face the power of StarMAN!”
Sonic Boom, noticing Starman’s advance, yelled to Green Lantern, “Is he always this corny?”
Green Lantern just stood there silent, giving Starman the opportunity to prove himself.
Star Sapphire turned to face her newest opponent. She was irritated and wore a disgruntled look on her face. “Out of my way, pig!” she ordered as she fired a destructive beam towards Starman. The beam was fierce and powerful, so much that it knocked Starman out of the sky and sending him into a crashing defeat.
“Oh dear, I believe he underestimated her,” spoke Sonic Boom. She felt for a pulse on Celsius’ neck as she neared the fallen comrades. She scrutinized the others, and noted their breathing. “Your friends are unconscious but they’re all still breathing.”
“Good. Now I’ve got to take care of this new Star Sapphire!” stated Green Lantern as he advanced towards his opponent.
“I’m right behind you!” confirmed Sonic Boom.
Star Sapphire flew down and stood over the now unconscious Starman and placed her left foot on his chest. “Foolish man! You all think you’re so tough and powerful. Now it is the woman’s turn to rule the roost!”
“Star Sapphire – get away from him!” ordered Green Lantern.
Star Sapphire looked up and saw that the person that she requested had finally arrived. “Green Lantern – I’ve been waiting for you! Now that you’re here it’s time for a surprise!”
“You’re the one who’s going to be surprised lady!” countered Green Lantern as he chained Star Sapphire’s wrists and ankles together.
“You have a kinky side, I see,” smirked Star Sapphire as she used her jewel to shatter the chains. She then raised her hands towards her head and proceeded to take off her mask.
Green Lantern stood speechless as he saw Star Sapphire revealed to be the woman whose life he had saved as she tried to end her own. Monique Le Claire!
