Speaking of Cary Grant hitting the road, that reminds me of something I wish I'd been old enough and in the right time and place to see at the time: after he retired from acting he apparently put together a sort of travelling show where he'd show clips from his various films and talk about them. I would love to have attended one of those. Berk, my Uncle who passed away 5 years ago attended one of these travelling shows that Cary Grant did and I wished I had the time to talk about it - but never gotten a chance to do so. He did quite a few of those and it's was a rare treat for my Uncle that attended them during his stint with US Marines during his 20 years of service there.

Two of my favorites actors - Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant - have already been featured, so here's Bela Lugosi to complete my personal Hollywood Trinity: From Island of Lost Souls.

And here's Myrna Loy as Fah Lo Suee in The Mask of Fu Manchu. I chose this movie because Loy is basically playing the first female super-villain in the movies! (Well, maybe not quite the first.) Loy's career was amazing! She had a bit part in The Jazz Singer! She even had a line of dialogue! A title card, actually, since it's still largely a silent film. Within a year or two, she was playing evil and/or misunderstood gypsies, Asians and half-breeds, always as a temptress. By the mid-1930s she was Nora Charles! She made so many great movies, and she kept at it for a long time. As late as the 1970s, she was Burt Reynolds' mother in The End! So awesome!

Glamour of Ava Gardner Dazzle in a Sea of BlueOne of the most talented actress ever grace the Silver Screen - her resume speaks volumes of her ability to act in all stages - Comedy, Adventure, Drama, and Romance. She did a splendid job as Eleanor Holbrook in Seven Days of May, The Barefoot Countess as Maria Vargas, and Mogambo as Eloise Y. Kelly with Clark Gable as her leading man. Versatile Actress that can take on any role and make it a winner. I adore her greatly. Enjoy these two pictures here.

That's great that he got to see one of those. Too bad you never got to hear him talk about it in detail.

Gentlemen Prefers Blondes Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell 1953 MovieOne of my favorite movies in the 50's and I often catch this movie on Turner Classic Movies on an annual basis and it's stars two of the biggest names in Hollywood - Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. Singers Lorelei (Monroe) Lee and Dorothy (Russell) Shaw travel to Paris, pursued by a private detective hired by the disapproving father of Lorelei's fiancé to keep an eye on her, as well as a rich, enamored old man and many other doting admirers. It's a delightful movie and this movie keeps everyone entertained with the antics of Monroe and Russell here.

Great Myrna LoyEnjoy these great pictures of the one of the great actresses that often co-starred with William Powell. Here's two of my favorite images of her. Very Rare Image of her - She tried her hands on Modeling and made it a Success. Dazzling Black and White Gown during days of starring the Thin Man Series. A fabulous Actress and one of the many legends of Hollywood in the 30's to the 50's.
