Bogart, Peter Ustinov, & Aldo Ray in "We're No Angels" is a regular on our list of Christmas movies to watch every year. It manages to be a happy story, despite some rather dark humor. After all, not that many Christmas movies have escaped convicts and a body count. Grant is driven hilariously to the brink of madness in "Arsenic and Old Lace" ("Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops!"). Peter Lorre also appears, and should probably have been arrested for the number of scenes he stole. Both highly recommended.

Just wanted to share this Miko Punsalan painted an amazing portrait of her. Seeing this portrait, I can't help but think she would have been right at home in Rivendell. A sort of eternal, elfin beauty. The other night we happened across the end of "Wait For Dark" on TCM and discovered our daughter's best friend, who lives with us, had never seen it. We convinced her to take it out of the library so we can see the whole thing. Looking forward to it, a great thriller.

Bob HopeOne of the most celebrated entertainers in the History of Hollywood, did it all - Movies, Specials, USO Shows, Vaudeville, worked with many of the great ones - Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour, and Hedy Lamarr too. This man resume speaks for themselves. This is the only photograph that I have and I hope to get more. A true legend in Hollywood History.

Bob Hope was also the star of a DC comic book - 109 issues, published from 1950 to 1968. www.comics.org/series/695/Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant were big stars, but they never had a comic book!

They also never hit the road like Bob Hope & Bing Crosby: Bali, Rio, Hong Kong, Singapore, Zanzibar, Utopia, & Morocco. They went everywhere.

Speaking of Cary Grant hitting the road, that reminds me of something I wish I'd been old enough and in the right time and place to see at the time: after he retired from acting he apparently put together a sort of travelling show where he'd show clips from his various films and talk about them. I would love to have attended one of those.
