Rob Allen and I host an annual dinner on the Saturday of the Emerald City Con for CBR/CCF locals and visitors (and their families, speakerdad). We used to have it at the Hurricane Cafe but it shut its doors forever last Friday. Watch for an announcement within the next few weeks.
Cei-U! Is it really getting that close??

One of these years, I'm going to have to make it out to see you guys for Emerald City. Quite a trek for me, but it would be worth it to finally meet CCF West Coast.

Last year's Emerald City was quite epic. I don't think I'll be able to make it this year, but I'll be back to it sooner than later...

Thanks for the heads up Cie-U, I'll keep a look out for more info.
FYI, just got a message from a friend that planned on going that Saturday is now sold out.

It'll be interesting to see what this year's show will be like. Reedpop Entertainment, the owners of New York Comic Con and a number of international shows acquired the show (announced today) and will begin making alterations to the show beginning with the show this March. They are trying to position NYCC as the biggest comic con in the country and of the year, and Emerald City has been one of the fastest growing cons and one of the more important in terms of pure comic announcements in recent years, so I wonder how they will push the marketing and image of the show and whether it will lose the charm that has made it grow so fast.

Emerald City's been bought by out-of-state interests? That's just swell. I'm sure their "alterations" will make it even more of an unwelcoming monster than was already becoming.
Cei-U! I summon the overpriced, overcrowded, overcommercialized shadow of its former self!

ECCC had a "mentoring" relationship with Portland's Rose City Comic Con, but their website says, "Rose City Comic Con remains an independent Oregon based company." Whew.
