This month's theme was the perfect excuse to rewatch this on DVD as I haven't watched it in years. Definitely the best live action Spider-Man film and I think it holds up very well. Visually this movie is really cool and it reminds me of why I grew up loving Sam Raimi as a director. The Doctor Octopus surgery scene contained many shots that are straight out of his Evil Dead films. In fact there are a few other scenes that also have a horror movie vibe. While I wasn't a fan of the unmasking scene at the time it is no doubt a powerful and emotional scene.

The inner conflict and the relationships with Harry and MJ are definitely stronger in 2, but I'll take Willam Defoe's Green Goblin over Alfred Molina's Doc Oc any day.

Welcome to the club, Rob! No problem, glad to share on the topic. Besides, I hate to see a grown CCF Administrator cry. It gets the forum wet..... LOL I loved the Shadow! It was a fun flick and although like you said the plot wasn't as strong as it could have been the tone and energy were spot on. I actually liked all the early 90's pulp hero movies especially the Phantom. I wish they had been more successful and spawned sequels.

Since Trial Of The Incredible Hulk was brought up, I thought I'd share one of my favorite early made for TV Marvel Movies from 1979 The 2 Captain America TV Films.
Like a lot of the early Marvel Live TV stuff, this wasn't cannon, but they were fun to watch so when they were finally released to DVD I got them. Now I will admit, there are a few things wrong with this version of Cap. The shield, his first costume, and the fact that he wore a helmet. (Then again, being he was mostly on his motorcycle, you have to admit that the helmet makes sense.) It is still fun to watch the action, and the bike is cool! And I thought Reb Brown was good as Captain America. And even though there are flaws to this version, I think we can all agree, it was better then the 90's Captain America that only made it to video.

I do love the Shadow too ... one of my favorite Alec Baldwin Movie. The TrailerPenelope Ann Miller was perfect for the female lead in this movie.

the 90's Captain America that only made it to video. And, even then, only after tremendous demand from fans. Originally, it was only going to be released overseas.

There was a cap film in the 90's!? You're better off not knowing. Allegedly, it makes the '90s Fantastic Four film look like a certified masterpiece.

Captain America Movies
1. Captain America - 1979
Trailer of this movie
2. Captain America II - Death too Soon - 1979
Trailer of this movie
Both of these films were made for Television and I was terribly disappointed in these films. Both of them starred Reb Brown - who played Captain America. He had the looks and the build, but a lousy actor he is. I just can't stand him at all. Reb Brown was better than Matt Salinger - See 1990 Movie.
3. Captain America - 1990
It was played by Matt Salinger and he was even worst than Reb Brown, his arch nemesis was played by Army Doctor first then Red Skull later on. Despite a good cast, and it was written by Joe Simon and assisted by Jack Kirby this movie was a disaster in the making and I just can't stand the direction of this movie and even had some moments but even that alone it was doing well on the international market but in the US Market it was a certifiable bomb. It's wasted the talents of Ronny Cox, Ned Beatty, Micheal Nouri, and Darren McGavin and that's why I simply could not understand how the script was poorly written - to me it was hastily done and I was so mad and disappointed after seeing this trash after the movie was over.

Wow...that's pretty bad, though I did like the Thing's face. The problem was you could see the eye slits where you could tell it was a cheap mask.
