I'm a fan of a lot of those acts (Yes, Gentle Giant, 10cc etc) so all the more reason I'll want to track this down.
Psychedelia at Abbey Rd looks good too, though I'd have preferred they chose some lesser-known tracks rather than Sunshine Superman and King Midas in Reverse (great songs, but I have them on other records).
Yeah, I agree (though I kind of wonder why no Pink Floyd, not that I'd need it there) and on that one I tend to skip the really familiar tracks... although this mix and length of Sunshine Superman is the definitive one for me now. I also like Maker by the Hollies so much I enjoy it every time.

Yeah, I agree (though I kind of wonder why no Pink Floyd, not that I'd need it there)... Same reason why there's no Beatles on there: liscensing costs and hassles. Hugely successful bands like Floyd and the Fab Four don't need to licence their music for various artists compilations, and if they did, the costs would be completely prohibitive for the makers of a rather niche compilation CD

Once upon a time, a hair over 20 years ago, I used to have a pretty substantial CD collection. Then I was burglarized and 250+ discs went out the door (or, more precisely, my living room window). I recovered about 20 of them the next day (long story), but I've never really had the funds in all the years since to replace my lost music. Gifts from family at Christmas and birthdays helped a bit, but I had come to believe I'd never hear most of those albums again. Since I signed up with Spotify a few months back, however, I've been able to not only replace much of my lost collection but to add a buncha stuff I've always wanted. The following is a list of the current contents of my Spotify library (it's kinda long, so I'll spread it cross multiple posts):

What I listen to makes me happy, and isn't that what music should do? Yep, that's pretty much my philosophy on the subject - basically, the way you approached music when you were a little kid, listening to what you like and makes you happy, is the best way to go. I found that my life became much easier when, somewhere in my late 20s or early 30s, I discarded the insufferable music snobbery I'd picked up somewhere in my mid-teens (which got honed to fine, overbearing point during my college years).
That's a pretty nice list, by the way. Lots of stuff in there I also really like, such as, e.g., Santana - Abraxas. I love pretty much everything by Santana, but esp. the first four albums, and of those Abraxas is my very favorite.

Spotify is a wonderful thing.
Listen to what you want. I shall avoid being music snobby, because music should make you happy.
Except the Eagles. The Eagles are horrible.

Some nice music in that collection, Kurt. I spotted plenty of albums that I own on CD or vinyl.
I too began to be a bit of a judgey music snob in my 20s...not that I ever listened to stuff I didn't like just because it was cool, mind you...and I was always ready and willing to defend artists or bands that I loved who were considered less than hip by the critical cognoscenti. Of course, that's mostly because I've always been arrogant enough about my ability to evaluate music to believe that if I like it, then it must be f***ing good! But the longer I've lived, the more I've come to realise that snobbery about music is nuts.
These days, I honestly don't judge anyone for their musical taste or care what music folks are into, as long as they're passionate about it. I find it much more bothersome when you ask someone what music they're into and they give you a wishy-washy answer like "oh, whatever's on the radio" or "I don't really like music", than if they say I love Elton John or ABBA or Ed Sheeran (to name 3 of my least favourite artists). Because even if it's not my particular taste, if you can talk passionately and enthusiastically about the music you dig, then we will have a great music conversation together.
Oh, and for the record, I think the Eagles are great...especially the earlier, Bernie Leadon era, which had a much more bluegrass and country influence to it than the later stuff. Basically, I think the first three albums are gold: Eagles (1972), Desperado (1973), and On the Border (1974). I enjoy individual tracks from later albums, but those three records are the Eagles records that I return to most often.

What I listen to makes me happy, and isn't that what music should do? I think music should make you happy ... and angry ... and sad ... and surprised ... etc, etc, etc.
