I had quite a bit of material for this game and for the DC Heroes game from Mayfair. I played the Marvel Heroes game a handful of times, but not the DC one. The rules were the basic percentile rules TSR used for all their non-D&D games (Boot Hill, Indiana Jones etc.).
I had this basic set...
the first 2 sets of unpainted miniatures...
(the box art shows painted versions but they came unpainted)
I think I still have the Doc Strange mini flaoting around somewhere, but none of the others.
I did eventually get the advanced set...
but only played the original rules.
The first time I ever played the game was this module...
a solo module which like solo mods for other TSR games used the red film reader to read the text that was hidden in the red print when you got to it.
The first time I ever ran a game for friends in high school was the Time Trap module you pictured above, but it didn't go well. I wanted to use the pre-gen Marvel characters until I knew the rules better, they wanted to make their own and had the heroes become villains because they thought it was "cool" and the module game ended up being a disaster. I didn't play again until college when I ran an extended convention adventure I had written based on Avengers Annual #7 and Marvel Two-In-One Annual 2 where they had a final showdown with Thanos. Unfortunately I over powered Thanos a bit and he wiped the floor with the heroes (I didn't have Thanos neurotic self-defeating streak written in). This was circa 1990 before Infinity Gauntlet and all that when Thanos was out of vogue. It was still fun, and it is okay for the players to lose at convention games sometimes as long as they had fun getting to that point, and we did.
I had a bunch more modules and supplements, but never played any of them.
From what I remember, I had...
the judge's screen (which came with a huge map of Marvel NYC)
I had supplements too, like the Avengers sourcebook...
and for the advanced game...
I think I had this one too at some point...
and possibly this one...
but they may have been in a later collection of game materials I inherited from a friend who gave away all his stuff. I remember reading them but can't remember if I had them when I was playing occasionally or when I just had some of the stuff as "collectibles"
This was the Mayfair Games DC Heroes RPG I had too...
though I never got anyone to play it (my gaming friends who were into super-heroes preferred Marvel). When we did do hero games in high school, we usually played Villains & Vigilantes or Champions. The only recent hero games I have played was Mutants & Masterminds, which runs on the basic d20 mechanic.
The DC Heroes had miniatures too, but I never was able to track them down when I was collecting rpg stuff.
I believe there were Legion, Titans and Watchmen sets too.
There was a ton of stuff for that game too...
but I think I only ever had the basic game set.
The Watchmen supplement goes for a pretty penny as it goes into a lot of the world's history and back story that never made the comic itself...
There was a Batman specific rpg put out at the height of the 1989 movie popularity based on the same rule systems of this game too...
Both Marvel and DC have had more recent rpg systems put out for them as well, some of which I have played at conventions, none of which I have purchased.
