The person my wife works for is having a 70's party and bought this to , I guess ,be part of the decorations. She didn't like the condition it was in and, instead of returning it , she gave it to my wife. I remember seeing the Steve Austin doll back in the day; it had a mini-telescope for one eye. You had to look through the back of his head... but... Jaime has a Mission Purse! I had a ton of Six Million Dollar Man toys when I was a wee lad, but never had the Jaime Summers doll. I have picked up a few pieces over the year for my toy collection, but the are usually priced higher than my typical range for impulse purchases at toy shows. Steve Austin often teamed up with Atomic Mike Power form my GI Joe team to face off against Maskatron and the Intruder. -M

I never had any of that stuff, I was a stuffed animal nut (and still am), and little china animals that came in a brand of tea, but my brother had some of the large G.I.Joes (at least one talked and had bristles hair, I shampooed him thinking his hair might grow), and I remember other kids having stuff like that... or some of the first Barbies my Aunt had that I only saw visiting my Grandparents. Action Jackson or Action Man or maybe even Captain Action? I vaguely remember some Planet Of the Apes stuff in that size too. I did have a few Micronauts and Star Wars things later, Princess Leia got some Chanel No.5 on her so if you ever run across one of her that smells...

Is that some sort of martial arts outfit the Bionic Woman has? Doesn't seem familiar to me. And where are her shoes? Can't run in a bionic sense without shoes!
My older sister had that toy. Hard to believe of a time when figures were that big (I grew up with Super Powers by Kenner, and Secret Wars by Mattel).

I guess it was a common thing for young girls to play with dolls and actions figures by placing perfume on them.

Just curious anyone here have a you tube channel with videos ? I do, though I don't think my content will be of much interest to you if you aren't a fan of Alanis Morissette's early music or crudely made absurdist videos.

Yeah, that's me and Kubrick's 2001, which I first saw in '74 when I was 16. The thought that the future of that movie is now 18 years in the past kinda wigs me out if I think about it too long.
Cei-U! I summon the cognitive dissonance!
Same feeling when I was a kid reading Famous Monsters and they showed stills from Frankenstein 1970. Even though it was probably 1965 or '66, I remember feeling that 1970 sounded so super-science-fictional and far-off. Time moves at such a different pace when you're 10 or 11. If it's the same film I'm thinking of, I actually saw Frankenstein 1970 at the theatre as a very young kid. I remember being a bit disappointed with the Creature, who looked like an average-size guy with a torn-up face. And was he wearing a space-suit for some reason?
Right at the beginning of the new decade there was a Canadian tv show that I loved called "Here Come the 70s": it was basically a sort of news or information program about not just science and technology, but also social changes, things like that - basically the strange new world that we were all soon to be living in. But when the show lasted a few years into the 70s, so that "the 70s" no longer sounded all that futuristic, they changed the title to "Here Comes the Future".
One of the all-time great theme songs, too, BTW, and an intro that featured a beautiful naked woman wading into the ocean, which as you can imagine fascinated the 10-year-old me.
edit: what do you know, a video of that intro is now on youtube - last time I looked, several years ago, it wasn't there, just the theme song with no video. Great to see it again after so many years! Now if only I could find some complete episodes.

When they dubbed the show in French, they must have realized the 70s were too close because they renamed it “Vers l’an 2000”! Great memories. I remember being very scared that people in the future would really shave their head, because shoulder-length hair was all the rage back then. Also, that’s the show that predicted that automation would develop so quickly that by the year 2000 one of the big problems in our society would be how to occupy our considerable leisure time. To say I now feel cheated is an understatement!

Got my "I voted" sticker today. Remember, Remember, the 5th of November... -M I voted also. It was a really short ballot though. Contested mayor election (I voted for a friend), two uncontested city council positions and a school bond.

Got my "I voted" sticker today. Remember, Remember, the 5th of November... -M I voted also. It was a really short ballot though. Contested mayor election (I voted for a friend), two uncontested city council positions and a school bond. I voted as well, because it's my civic duty and privilege, but it was a nothing-burger slate. Borough council, school board, bunch of local judges, and some county positions (controller, sheriff, and I think dogcatcher). Results were typical. We live in a mostly subrural/rural county, so while the one city (a very small one) voted in Dems to all its positions (which we didn't vote on) and our borough elected the folks who were on both sides of the ballot, every county position went Republican on the usual "God and Guns" ticket. It's gotten so one-sided that one of the Democrat candidates for Controller ran as a "Conservative Democrat" while touting his pro-Second Amendment and pro-life stances in his campaign literature, as those are truly important notes to consider for a position like county controller.
