A place for small talk and any other discussion that doesn't require its own thread.

I read about what happened with that Titans cover but I never imagined it would spiral into Doing a "Crisis" on Cbr.

That was pretty insane, but I really don't see what Jonah can do to prevent it happening again in the future. You can't prevent people from being horrible people, unfortunately.

I really am of two minds about the whole thing. And it depends on perspective.
The boards had become bad. We all know that. That's why we liked our little cave. Drastic measures were necessary. So, I see how a reboot is good for the boards.
The classic forums were going great, on the other hand, and in no need of a reboot.
What's mystifying to me is why they were deleted. My instinct, based on the fact that the other boards aren't allowed chat threads and other rules over the years, is that Jonah never wanted subcommunities. He wanted the subforums to be topicbased and the same users to go across all of them and talk about topics in the appropriate board. And the latest move seems to attempt to enforce that, possibly hoping us good people would spread over the community and be a positive influence.
But the forums got far too big for that to be realistic. There are just too many people with too many distinct tastes.
In summary, I think Jonah did what he did for the good of the board. But it wasn't good for the classics board, and I think the classics board should be housed by somebody it matters to, like shaxper.

Whenever you are ready to restart the book club, shax, it should be easy enough to cut and paste our lists.

Thanks, Chris, for that perspective. I was struggling to figure out how this move made sense to Jonah, and that at least sort of does. The light moderation of the Classics board may have made us seem riskier, despite our record of good behavior, and I suppose the topic doesn't really drive the site's revenue, either (I don't see a lot of ad placement for classics collections).

I need to give A LOT of attention to organizing all of this, and then we can begin slowly moving in old saved threads. But we do all this with the understanding that, should Jonah change his mind in the next few days, we can still move it all back.

Meanwhile....
Aside from the 'relaunch' of CBR Forums or whatever it is, I have 2 commissioned pieces from a favorite artist of mine who's doing 2 blank covers for me.
And it was 95 degrees here today...it's so hot right now at 8:01pm right now

I've found that's a pretty all-purpose statement for just about every aspect of existence.

I want the community to be hosted by somebody who cares about it. Shaxper is perfect. If it becomes too much work for him, hopefully somebody else equally invested can take over.
