In celebration of our community's second year and of all the great members, discussions, and moments that have made this community what it is, as well as in memory of our beloved missing comrade, Jim Zimmerman (known to most as "Captain Jim"), we bring you this second annual Jamie Awards.
How it works:
A total of thirteen categories will honor members and threads for their contributions to the community between April 30th, 2015 at 9:22pm EST (the one year anniversary of the first ever post made at the CCF) and April 30, 2016 at 9:21pm EST (tonight, two year later).
One week from today (May 8), two categories will be opened up for nominations. For each category, members will be invited to nominate (not vote upon) one person and thread, including a detailed explanation justifying their choices. Winners from previous years can be nominated again.
Every three days, new categories will be opened for nomination, and the previous ones will be closed.
Voting will then begin on Wednesday, May 25th and will close on June 1st at 11:59pm EST.
The Schedule:
May 8-10
Best Contest/Game Thread
The Professor Xavier Award: Best discussion starter
May 11-13
Best Modern Comic Thread
Best CCF Club/Group Thread (NEW!)
The Brother Power the Geek Award: Funniest member
May 14-16
Best Non-Comics Thread
Best Fan Fiction piece or Fan Art piece (NEW!)
The Krypto Award: Friendliest member
May 17-19
Best Review Thread
The Jasper Sitwell Award: new member whose activity has most benefited the community (NEW!)
The Uatu Award: Most knowledgeable member
May 20-22
Best Classic Comic Thread
The Captain Jim Zimmerman Award for best overall poster who most exemplifies the spirit of the CCF
May 25-June 1
Voting!
So now is the time to start trekking through old threads, rekindling old memories, and making some tentative decisions
It's also a time to reflect upon the positive. This is not an opportunity to nominate others sarcastically, get competitive, or put others down. When enough people participate, countless members and threads end up being publicly recognized and appreciated, regardless of who wins. This should be a time of affirmation, not competition.
Special Thanks:
A special thanks to the members and staff who actively participated in the creation, development, and design of the Jamie Awards.
