   Published: June thru October 1992 Synopsis: A beggar that appears to be something more opens a gaping doorway into Gen's past as he and Usagi work to gain final justice for the clan his father was sworn to protect. Notes: Origin of Gen This origin story contradicts Gen's implication in the "Samurai" storyline that he once served a master. Discuss the issue and/or post full reviews below! |

Little Gen is the cutest thing ever!
And although we see his first foray into bounty hunting I'm not sure it precludes serving a lord sometime after what we saw here of Gen's early life but before the events of the story so far.

I'm looking forward to finding out more about Gen and the lord he used to serve. I think it could certainly be an interesting story, but the plot thread is so old I'm not sure we ever will. Good point, though he seems quite resolved not to go that route. True, though it's unclear how much time has passed between the events depicted here and what we currently know so it's not inconceivable that events could have transpired to change his views only to revert back afterward for some reason. I think it could be an interesting counter point to Usagi's own journey if say Gen served Lord Hikiji for some reason, being led to think he was a different sort of master only to learn his true nature after the fact thus leading him to become the surly bounty hunter we now know and love. |
