Where would we be if we didn't SHARE the wealth of cross-over potential within a company or from outside the company? I wish it happened with some properties that don't want to cross over. Star Trek/Star Wars, anyone? Who wouldn't want to see Spock put the Vulcan nerve pinch on Vader? Seriously, though, while I don't think anything should be overdone (otherwise it becomes too routine), I'd love to see DC and Marvel do a crossover every 4 years (I chose 4 years as that is how often the FIFA World Cup takes place). Within a company, well less is more, but it's still nice to see Cap show up in an Iron Fist comic or something.

I know GI Joe has Kung Fu Grip but Spock would require a can opener 1st before applying a nerve pinch and would his pinch take effect enough to prevent Vader from Force choking or Force pushing him into a wall? Some cross-overs don't really work out very well.

They crossed over with Green Lantern (where I got my only knowledge of the Blackest Night/Brightest Day stuff of), Legion of Super-Heroes (just... meh) and the animated series got a crossover with the Transformers animated series (in comic form later, of course, they didn’t have enough animation for that in those days). And yeah the every-4-years DC/Marvel crossover would be nice. Connected to the Olympic years but not enough to make the Olympics thing would be an ok way of years. In the actual comics, maybe just a bit in each comic, but I mean, the team-up comics are for something, right?

I've read all of the Star Trek crossovers except the ones with Doctor Who. I am intrigued by those issues, though.

I'm not a big fan of cross-company/franchise crossovers. The ideas make fun fan speculation, but they can come off like a cynical cash grab.

I think there was even an X-Men/Trek book... that just seems wrong, different times as well. As long as I can ignore any I don't want though, aren't going to be referenced opfficially, I guess I'm okay with anything. Planet Of The Apes and Battle Of The Planets... sure, g'hed, 7-Zark-7 can make pals with Dr. Zarkov! Casper The Ghost and Ghostbusters, Popeye and The Hulk, Hell Boy and Hot Stuff, Jaxxon and Bugs Bunny...

I haven't read it, but the most bizarre concept I read about was Planet of the Apes and Alien Nation. How on earth would they have reconciled those?
Which comic companies own the rights to Freddy Krueger and Chucky? I think "Freddy VS Chucky" could be the best comic ever!

I think crossovers between differing properties like that are generally hokey, but if I'm honest, I'm a sucker for debates in battle arena threads, i.e. would the movie X-Men from Days of Future past be able to defeat the movie Avengers from the first Avengers movie? Fight to the death/K.O. in empty arena, go!
Note - this is paraphrasing an actual thread I read some years back, and general consensus was it depends on whether or not Thor's and Hulk's makeups are similar enough to humans that Xavier could nail them since Thor is technically an alien.
If so, X-Men win it hands down. If not, well, that's a lot more debatable.

I have to amend my prior statement.. it was Avengers 2 team, not 1. Battle of the Quicksilvers.

Cross-overs should remain in the domain of fandom. They hold absolutely no appeal for me.

I'm not a big fan of cross-company/franchise crossovers. The ideas make fun fan speculation, but they can come off like a cynical cash grab. They are, There's no creative reason or benefit to have two adult-themed characters involved with a comic aimed at children and adolescents, unless someone at Archie has a subversive bent, or as you suggest are just looking for a cash grab. But in this case, who is the audience? I've never been too much of a fan of multi-company and/or multi-medium crossovers; most make no sense at all, and come off as a cash grab, or publishing something that used to rest in the speculation of daydreaming children (e.g. Star Trek meets Planet of the Apes, etc.). They're usually a disservice to the original creation.
