I always found Hawkman & Hawkgirl as interesting as any characters and if they were in a comic it was an automatic buy. You are officially awesome, Becca! Automatic buy for me, too. As was the Flash (and in the 80s, what would he have been considered?). I can understand the point of view of those who refer to Hawkman as B-list. In a charitable mood, I'll understand their point of view about him being C-list. But if they say D-list, those are fighting words in these parts!

Well, I just dissed B'wana Beast, even mis-spelled the name, so maybe I'm no better really, there could be rabid fans of the character constructing beccabear effigies to burn right now.

Sometimes an apparently silly archive character is just waiting for someone to tell a more interesting story about him... And where once I had absolute zero interest in reading a comic featuring this character, now I'm inspired to read absolutely everything.

What I miss about the early DC/Marvel crossovers is the "shared earth" policy. It felt so special to know that the likes of Superman, Spidey, Batman and Hulk all lived on the same earth. I was a tad dismayed when years later, it was all multiverse stuff (I know there probably is an earth - I forget the designation and don't particularly care - where DC/Marvel heroes lived together). I still enjoyed the likes of DC VS Marvel and JLA/Avengers, but I am not in awe of the separate universes policy, whereas I was in awe of the shared earth policy. Right there with you taxidriver1980 and many a night dreamed of comics within such a shared universe. I want to see the day to day interactions between the DCU and MU heroes and villains. What would Kingpin think of Lex Luthor and vice versa. How wild would it be seeing Spidey getting annoyed over shooting out his webline's to building tops only to keep snagging Superman as he flies by or always getting his web line tangled in Bat lines? Would love to see some double dating with GA/Canary and Hawkeye/Mockingbird or a charity archery contest between GA/Hawkeye (can you imagine the trash talking? Make WWE look tame). Instead of a yearly JLA/JSA teaming it would be JLA/Avengers and go for a big summer one with JSA, 7 Soldiers, LOSH, Freedom Force, Invaders, GOTG, Defenders, FF, X-Men! So much FUN to be explored. such are the things Fanboy/girl dreams are made of!!!

When Marvel was on its knees in the 90's, they agreed to keep the mutant titles and sell the rest to DC except for Spidey. DC wasn't doing unless they could have Spidey. Deal off.
BTW it was interesting because at the time Marvel was still advertising subscriptions in their comics and I remember seeing the Elektra titles in the Mutants section lol.
I suppose it could still happen, maybe, but probably not.
Marvel was trying to buy out pre-COIE DC as well.

What happened with the pre-COIE potential, Hondo?

So much FUN to be explored. such are the things Fanboy/girl dreams are made of!!! The shared earth aspect also led to some cool dialogue. In the second Supes/Spidey team-up, Wonder Woman mentioned how she'd always planned to hunt Spidey down; in the Batman/Hulk crossover, Bats mentioned how he had a file on the Hulk in his Batcave; and in the X-Men/Teen Titans crossover, didn't one of the Titans mention how they'd heard whispers of Dark Phoenix whilst in outer space? The separate universe policy doesn't allow for such things. Batman, for instance, isn't likely to have a file on the Hulk if the Hulk exists in an earth within another universe.

I enjoyed the DC vs MARVEL crossover also, my only critique is that it would have been much better with only one artist doing all the chapters.

First getting into comics multiple artist in a single issue was something I never liked. Even if I liked both artists’ work. It just pulls me out of the story and I loose the immersion.
