Feeling a bit impish. The board seems to be subject to it too off late...

Mr. Mxyzptlk! in As Good as His Word!" Superman Vol 2 31
Superman continues his exile from Earth, meanwhile Mr. Mxyzptlk comes to visit Earth and is looking for Superman, but Lex Luthor becomes the "unfortunate" soul that has to deal with Mr. Mxyzptlk. Let's say Luthors' solution to get rid of Mr. Mxyzptlk is unique. This is one of the better ones that I can only remember and my write up here is to the best of my knowledge.

I think this might be his first Post Crisis appearance. I've read it a bunch of times since I was a kid it's a pretty fun issue.

Mr Mxyzptlk's first appearance in Superman #30 is an absolute hoot. It is some glorious golden age zaniness by Siegel and Shuster. I fell in love with the tale the first time I ever read it in Superman from the Thirties to the Seventies longer ago than I care to admit, and I know it has been reprinted multiple time since.

Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. Also, the Gibert Gottfried-voiced Mxyzptlk in Superman: The Animated Series provided some great stories.

I like the one where he's tricked into saying his name back... uh, hold it. That's all of them.

I just noticed that Julie Shwartz is on the cover. I guess he's the only creator responsible for Superman before 1986.

No, but those issues marked the end of his long tenure as editor of the Superman titles and were the last books he did before retiring from comics/DC, so they were honoring him in particular. -M

Superman/Madman: Hullabaloo by Mike Allred is my favorite. It's a blast.

This was supposed to be their last Superman story, but I know Curt would do some Superman work later.
