I will say this for Idaho pizza, it's probably the only place in the U.S. you can get Basque chorizo as a topping (and it's still fairly rare). I guess maybe in Reno. But maybe not.

But my mom grew up there so we'd go up to visit her family. I have roots there; also Buck Owen's Crystal Palace is up there I have no clue if its worth walking now.

I Googled and it looked like they had five proper Basque restaurants, which is pretty impressive. I think that's how many Boise has now. Looks like Reno only has two...which surprises me.

When I still lived in St Louis I loved eating at Imo's or Pantera's. When trying to describe Imo's to my wife when she moved from her hometown to live with me when we got married I said it is "pizza toppings on crackers". I am still partial to any kind of thin crust pizza. Anchovies are my favorite topping on pizza. Being that there is only two pizza joints in the vicinity to us, both of which are pricey, that have anchovies as a choice, I end up usually buying a frozen pizza and a can of anchovies and making it myself. I ate a Tostino's pizza last night. I am pretty indiscriminate with what pizza I will eat. Papa John's is about the only one I avoid. Our boys loved Little Caesar's pizza growing up and as a bonus it's cheap. So I have eaten quite a lot of their's. Though in their case I like their deep dish. When I worked for Barnes & Noble, our district manager operated out of St Louis and we occasionally had to go down there for managerial meetings and training (loss prevention related, usually, but some other things, too). Lunch was usually provided and at least once they ordered Imo's and acted like it was a great treat. I wasn't overly impressed by it, to be honest, though it was hardly warm, by the time we had it. Former wrestling manager and podcaster Jim Cornette sings the praises of their sauce.

As a heavy metal guy it just does my heart good knowing there's a place called "Pantera's Pizza" out there A chain that I have enjoyed now that I think of it is the Mellow Mushroom. At least what we've gotten here in Columbus area (until they closed the one I used to live near). A "marketed hippy vibe", but great attention to detail on the pizzas themselves. Speaking of more regional toppings, I remember another favorite from when I was living down in New Mexico. One place had a "green chile cheeseburger pizza", and the cheeseburger part I think was just ground beef, but the green chiles were amazing on a pizza (it elevated an otherwise pretty bland pie tremendously).

I'm assuming they were Hatch chilis, which are amazing. I guess maybe Pueblos, which are also good. They are also really good roasted and then thrown on a burger.

Hatch indeed, we lived about 40 miles from Hatch in fact and yes, insanely good on a burger too. My wife grew up down there and still insists on sourcing the authentic stuff (no argument from me).

The local grocery stores get a shipment of Hatch chilis around the middle of August every year. I usually buy a fair amount and smoke about 2/3. The rest I just roast and then freeze so I've got them available until the next year's shipment. I can get jalapeños, habaneros, Anaheims, serranos and poblanos year round. But the Hatch's have to be rationed.

Chino, California, has a Basque restaurant and I’ve eaten there a few times. I even had the chorizo! (But not on pizza.)
I’ve been to Bakersfield a few times! I did not eat at any Basque restaurant but I found an old-time Chinese restaurant that was really good.

I adore pizza in any shape or form (definitely blame those meddlesome Turtles ). My favorite has to be Red Baron's French Bread pizza (usually the five cheese and garlic or three meat). Fell in love with them during my later high school years and never looked back

I eat pizza a lot, mainly because it's pretty simple to make and my ADHD doesn't often enable me to devote time/effort to more complex meals. So long as I have pre-made bread on hand — pita, naan, white bread, rye bread, doesn't matter which type so long as it doesn't contain any cinnamon or fruit — I can have pizza made within twenty minutes. As for toppings, I use whatever's at hand. I love mushrooms and fried onions, so I prefer to include them everytime. But never pineapple or anchovies.
