I’ll add a Challengers of the Unknown and Sea Devils crossover film, or maybe shared series (again, 60’s classic era). Just cause I have a soft spot for those non-superhero Silver Age DC titles. I’m so on board with the aforementioned Blackhawk as well. Or simply a Forgotten Heroes film, which featured the full teams rather than just the leading men. All the greatest adventurers of a bygone age against a thread that takes place underground, under the seas, and across time itself! I so want this, brilliant!

Black Widow (2019) starring Scarlett Johannson has a lengthy opening sequence in 1995 and then skips to the long-ago time of 2016.

Wanted to mention this when I first saw these posts, but got distracted. Take a peek at one of the best of the adventure “Daredevils of the Red Circle,” (1939) with three acrobats becoming investigators to take on a villain who seriously injures one of their brothers. One of the very best of the chapter-plays and as I said earlier, just squint mentally and you’re watching the early Challs in action on the screen. And, yes, that’s former Olympian, college football star and movie Tarzan Herman Brix as one of the Daredevils. He soon changed hi name to Bruce Bennett and became a reliable supporting actor, notably in “Mildred Pierce” (1945) and “Treasure of the Sierra Madre “ (1948).

Thanks for the recommendation, definitely checking this out! I never connected his Cody from Treasure of the Sierra Madre with his Tarzan work (I guess the name change worked!), I learn something everyday.

And, David Sharpe was a champion gymnast who became one of the top stuntmen in the industry. He doubled Tom Tyler in The Adventures of Captain Marvel, for the take-offs and landings, as well as a couple of other big fight stunts...... The serial's stunt sequence of a flooded LA tunnel was swiped by everyone.......

Thanks for the recommendation, definitely checking this out! I never connected his Cody from Treasure of the Sierra Madre with his Tarzan work (I guess the name change worked!), I learn something everyday. He's also in Fighting Devil Dogs, which is notable for its villain, The Lightning, who was a partial inspiration for the look of Darth Vader, in Star Wars. The Flying Wing craft and the henchman are recycled from the original Dick Tracy serial, which also featured the boat stunt which was swiped for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Fighting Devil Dogs repeated the footage of the flying wing and the boat stunt (or was that The Masked Marvel?) The Republic serials (more so than the Columbia or Universal) were some of the best action-adventure series of their day, with exciting stunts and great mayhem, good villains (usually) and all kinds of fun. Like anything, the earlier ones hold up better, as the formulas start wearing thin, later on. If you are hesitatnt to try them out, I suggest watching the spoof, J-Men Forever, from Phil Proctor and Peter Bergman, of the Firesign Theater, where they mashed together clips from several of the serials, redubbed the dialogue, and created a demented tale of a mad disc jockey,, out to control the minds of the nation, with rock and roll.

I'll add to the kudos for DotRC. One of the few serials I've watched twice.
