Titans of Justice #2 - “Not as it Seems Pt. 2”
Written, Edited & Maxi-micros by: Power Guy
The lab of the Ultra Humanite, Earth 2…
About an hour after the transference process had been completed, the Huntress lye still on the floor. She was gently shook awake. As her eyes opened, she noticed the great white ape body of the Ultra Humanite hunched over her. She reacted with a sharp right hook that the gorilla tried to grab but he was too slow. He then requested, “Huntress, please stop! It’s me, Power Guy!”
The Huntress did not reply to the threat before her and threw one of her steel-cable Bat-ropes around him and demanded, “Tell me what’s going on here!” as she began surveying the lab. She noticed that both the Lightning Master and Power Guy were gone.
“Huntress, let me loose,” requested the ape. “This isn’t what you think. The Ultra Humanite stole my body. His mind is in mine.”
After considering the evidence before her, she relaxed her grip on her rope and released the gorilla, “I believe you. That explains what this machine is for and why the Lightning Master didn’t harm you much when we confronted him.”
“Agreed,” acknowledged Power Guy. “We need to figure out how to get my mind back in my body. I just saw on the news that he’s already wrecking havoc in New York City,” Power Guy revealed, motioning over to a TV across the room.
“This isn’t going to be easy but it’s got to be done,” pointed out the modern legacy of the Batman.
“You’ve got that right but I’m not sure how much help I’ll be like this. This body is much bulkier and slower than my old one. I feel like I’m swimming in molasses.”
“Well, we’re going to need help and I think I might know where to get it from…” speculated the Huntress.

A few hours later a top the Justice Society’s brownstone in New York City…
A red and black clad hero armed with the legendary Cosmic Rod descended from the sky down upon the roof. He noticed there were five other costumed individuals waiting for him. He quickly pointed at the Ultra Humanite’s furry body and demanded, “You! You’re the Justice Society’s nemesis, the Ultra Humanite! What are you doing here with these people dressed like the JSA? Making a mockery of my grandfather’s team?” The Cosmic Rod brimmed with light as he prepared for battle.
“Calm down, Kyle,” instructed the Huntress, surprising the new arrival.
“How did you know my real name?” asked Stardust.
“We should all know who each other is except for my furry friend here,” continued the legacy of the Bat-family. “We’ve all been to the JSA reunions with our parents. It shouldn’t come as much of a shock to any of us that several of us have decided to continue their legacies.”
“So, you must be Selena Grayson under that mask?” deduced the son of Jack Knight and the second Mist.
“We don’t really have time for non-essential explanations right now,” chastised the Huntress. “We have an imperative situation on our hands. This, beside me, may look like the Ultra Humanite but it’s not. This is Power Girl and the Star Spangled Kid’s son, known as Power Guy. The Ultra Humanite used one of his devices to switch bodies with him. You may have noticed on the news that the villain is currently tearing up Manhattan, most likely as a display of his new-found powers.”
“My sister and I caught that on my tablet right before you contacted us,” interjected a red and gold garbed woman, dressed similar to Wonder Woman.
“Fury is right. The two of us were going to go knock some sense into Power Guy but then we got your call,” added a winged heroine. “We figured you summoned us to join in the fight.”
“You’re exactly right, Nephthys,” confirmed the Huntress.
“I get where you’re coming from, Huntress,” began the new Sandman, “But besides Fury here, none of us are even close to a physical match for someone like Power Guy.”
“That’s why we’ve got to work together to pull this off,” replied the vigilante from Gotham City. “This is the first time we’ll be working together and I’m not going lie, this won’t be easy by any means but if we don’t stop the Ultra Humanite, there really isn’t anyone left to do the job. Most of our parents and grandparents are close to, if not already at, retirement age. The Ultra Humanite would leave them as bloody smears on the pavement if they tangoed with him.”
“And isn’t this the type of situation the Justice Society came together for when they got together? A group of heroes facing a threat that no single hero could face alone?” Fury commented, trying to inspire the group.
“You make a good point, lady,” agreed the Sandman. “But why aren’t some of the other JSA or Infinity Inc member’s legacies here? Like Green Lantern, Flash, or Hourman’s grandkids?”
“They weren’t available so we’ll have to make due with who showed up,” urged the Huntress.
“We’d better get moving before the city is completely trashed,” pointed out Nephthys.
Stardust quickly created a glowing platform and announced, “Those of you who can’t fly, hop on!” As the Huntress, Power Guy, and the Sandman boarded the glowing sphere, Fury and Nephthys took to the air thanks to the Nth Metal in their costumes. Soon, the group of heroes was headed towards the Upper West Side of the city.
Moments later, the team of newly assembled heroes was high above the city, searching for their target. Thanks to the Eye of Horus imbedded in her helmet, Nephthys was the first to spot Power Guy’s body. “There he is! Above Central Park!”
Stardust quickly set the non-flying heroes on the ground right before he, Nephthys, and Fury flew towards the rampaging villain.
Fury called out to the Ultra Humanite as she approached him, “We offer you a chance to surrender and give Power Guy back his body. If you do so, no harm will come to you.”
“No harm will come to me?” repeated the ages old villain. “I now control the most powerful body on this planet. It is YOU who should be worried about harm!” he threatened as he fired off a blast of heat-vision at Fury.
Using the speed of Mercury, she managed to place her bracelets in between herself and the blast. “He’s the fasted opponent I’ve ever faced!” she thought to herself. “My bracelets may be deflecting his beams but the sheer heat from them is still uncomfortable,” as the Ultra Humanite continued to blast away.
“You had your chance!” shouted Nephthys as she whacked her foe in the back of the head with her Nth Metal Mace.
“Acckk!!!” screamed the villain as he turned to face his latest attacker and retaliate but before he could act, Nephthys surprised him again.
Pointing the Claw of Horus at him, she said, “Let’s bring you down to earth so we can level the playing field for my friends on the ground!” Suddenly, the Ultra Humanite went plummeting towards the earth, smashing into the pavement, leaving a small crater in his wake.
Meanwhile, a young man with dark hair had been walking through the park when all of the current commotion started. Witnessing the battle, he thought to himself, “Clark suggested that I get out of Metropolis and explore other parts of the country. It figures that New York would be the first place I witness a battle of this century’s super-beings. Wait……isn’t that Clark’s second-cousin fighting against the others? He looks vastly out-numbered. I should go help him out!”
Back at the crater, the Sandman was the first to act, firing his sleep-gas gun at the genius villain. “Not sure this will have any affect on his Kryptonian physiology but it’s worth a try!” he thought to himself.
After hitting the ground quite hard, the Ultra Humanite was dazed and confused a bit, allowing the sleep-gas to penetrate his nose and mouth. While the gas wasn’t powerful enough to put him to sleep, it did make him start coughing and feeling a bit dizzy.
The Huntress also took advantage of the situation and threw and exploding Batarang at her adversary, further dazing him. Power Guy then jumped on the man who stole his body and began punching him profusely while screaming, “I want my body back you miserable…….”
After taking a short beating, the villain pulled himself together and began punching back. While Power Guy was still exceptionally strong in the Ultra Humanite’s body, he was nowhere near as powerful as in his former vessel and began losing ground to the villain.
Just then Fury landed on the Ultra Humanite’s back and punched him in both of his temples at the same time, making his head spin. “Now, while he’s disoriented!” shouted the Amazing Amazon.
Stardust flew up in front of the villain and unleashed a full-force blast of his Cosmic Rod at the villain, causing a bright flash of light which momentarily blinded everyone nearby. Once the group’s eyesight returned, to their horror, they saw the Ultra Humanite still standing with a smile on his face as he announced, “Fool! Your stellar blast is just what I needed to heal from the damage your team just caused me. With it being powered by the stars, you just gave these Kryptonian cells the boost they needed to tip the day in my favor!” He then grabbed Stardust by the throat and began squeezing tighter and tighter until suddenly, the red and black-clad hero went completely limp with his head tilting backwards….
