So, I'm working with the local public library to organize some programming for Free Comic Book Day and the week leading up to it. The librarian has a couple hundred books to give away day of. I'm trying to organize a couple of adult events (a presentation about MAUS by Dan Worden and a comic-making workshop by Jackie Davis). During the week, we're going to have some after-school crafting for kids and I'm gathering a stack of comics they can cut up to make buttons, refrigerator magnets, etc. This is what I have so far...
I'll probably pull some out of my "for sale" boxes, but I'm wondering what ideas folks have for sourcing beat-up comics for a project like this (apart from buying them)?
(Lest your horrified by the whole idea, here's a video by Crimebuster)

This thread makes me sad.
Just kidding , I gave my wife some books to cut up last year.

I have half a short box of coverless comics (mostly late Silver humor and Superman books) that were given to me that I use for any crafting projects that are comic related. Haven't done any in a couple of years though.

I do regret cutting up Wonder Woman #204!
The others I chopped up, not so much. Although I know some people would be horrified, I did chop up a coverless but complete Marvel Tales #1, which reprinted the origin/first issue of all the SA Marvel heroes. I got a lot of great panels out of that one book.
Both the Wonder Woman #204 and the Marvel Tales #1 were from the same 50 cent bin, and the WW 204 wasn't worth anything at the time, so since I had a nicer copy I got out the hatchet.
