I doff my hat to this week's winner, M.W. Gallaher, with 3 votes. A top effort from joint runners-up driver1980, arfetto, Jesse, kirby101, and badwolf to score 2 votes each. And keep it under your hat but third-place went to tarkintino, Jester and and Prine Hal with 1 vote apiece.

And I tip my topper to the troops! Thanks for the votes in another round of exceptionally elegant offerings!
A new contest shall be up as soon as I finish consulting the topic list.

Speaking of hats, why do state troopers wear the wide hats while city cops wear flat caps? Any reason for this?
Congrats on the win, M. W. Gallaher.

Speaking of hats, why do state troopers wear the wide hats while city cops wear flat caps? Any reason for this? Congrats on the win, M. W. Gallaher. I suspect it because state troopers spend more of their time outdoors. The broad brimmed hats provide better protection from sun and rain.
And tradition. Never underestimate the power of tradition.
