This is the earliest cover credited to Nick Cardy in the GCD. Planet Comics #9, Nov. 1940. GCD calls it September for some reason. Planet Comics covers seem to do well here.

One I bought after seeing the cover, love the colours
Who did Metamorpho sleep with to be included in this cover? He never even met Aquaman.

This is a cool cover. The background coloring gives it that nightmare effect, but it also masks some amazing detail by Cardy. Check out the original art below.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #102: (Y'know, the Sandman probably had to be breathing a sigh of relief when Superman explained that the one who died was going to have to fly up into space and spear the giant hand about to crush the Earth. "Kinda counts me out, guys. Good luck!")

Great minds think alike. I already posted this one, kirby101 . This cover has won 2 different contests in the past. A few weeks ago Planet Comics #71 became a 3 time winner. Maybe we should make a gentleman's( and females) agreement to avoid past winning covers.

Maybe we should make a gentleman's( and females) agreement to avoid past winning covers. While I agree in principle, there is no way I can remember all the winners or take the time every week to go through the winners thread. That said, perhaps if anyone sees a cover that has won they can inform the poster and then leave it to them whether to change it or not.

You might be right. It gets too complicated.

yeah. Besides, it would mess up my new strategy I just thought of: from now on, I'm going to post ONLY covers that have won before - I figure if the people voted for them once they'll do it again, the suckers. I won't even bother too much about whether it fits the week's topic, I'll just make up some convoluted explanation - nobody reads the words anyway, when there's a nice picture to look at.
Now everybody forget they read this or it might not work!
