Classic Cover Contest: 5 October 2022 to 11 October 2022 Female Heroes (No Headlights)So this week, let’s post the best examples of classic covers featuring female heroes or heroic females. But no cheesecake covers, please. We’re looking for heroes, not “headlights” covers. SO I guess that leaves out all covers from the 90's God, I hope so!

Justice Society of America #8-- October 2007, DC Comics
cover art by Alex Ross (again) (I don't classify this as "cheesecake"... more like a "girl scout cookie").
I've always liked this character, going back to her early appearances in Star Spangled Comics. Liberty Belle was one of my favorite characters in Roy Thomas' All-Star Squadron, which is where I first discovered her-- this prompted me to dig up some of the old 1940's stories. When DC basically retired Libby Lawrence, I was glad to see that they continued the character using Libby's daughter Jesse, in the series pictured below.
