More 50 cent books- I wanted to see some Garcia/Lopez art and I like the Dodson artwork in the other books. Curious about the distorted title Curious about After the Cape

I don't know if these Astro City books are reprints but I took a shot * turns out these are all the same book with variant covers. * Yeah, I was gonna say, they are all the same issue with variant covers. It's the latest (I think) comic that has been released in the Astro City series. It's a one-shot that sets up the new on-going series, though Lord knows when that will arrive.

Might go nicely with certain themed books I got recently? Can anyone say if it's a fairly realistic presentation of the Book of Genesis? I got it for a tenner....wish crumb had a colourist involved *grumble*

Nice. I think I'll see if I could get this.

The original art of the whole book was on display at the local art museum shortly after it was published, and Kurt and I saw it. It's an extremely faithful adaptation; Crumb illustrates the text with incredible skill.

Picked up a book I've been looking to nab at a reasonable price for quite a while now: Doctor Strange #1 from 1974... This is part of the Steve Englehart run, which I'm trying to complete, though the price normally puts it way out of my reach. This is in pretty tight shape overall, despite some wear on the cover...probably something like a FN- or VG+, I'd guess...and it was only £25. I regularly see this issue in similar condition going for well over £100 on eBay here in the UK. This was a "Buy It Now" listing, which I spotted early, hence how I was able to get it for that price. So yeah, well pleased with that.

Over at Mile High, Chuckles has that listed for $348 in VG so that was a good deal....I would have nabbed it myself at that price.
I'm also not such a hard ass on VGs - VFs anymore. Because I'm having some fun with a new aspect of the hobby...cleaning and pressing. There are some flaws that can be fixed (without encroaching on restoration) and there's some joy in buying a 'low grade' copy, doing the work and bumping up the grade.

Hit a score today I wasn't expecting. It was Free RPG Day so I went over to Bookery Games to pick up some freebies and buy some stuff to support the shop. While there, I went across the street to Bookery Fantasy, the comic shop that used to own the game store. It no longer does new books, but only does back issues, pulps, lobby cards and movie posters, and vintage paperbacks now. But they have a 99 cent back issue section. It's only about 4 long boxes of stuff, but today, two of those long boxes were all Disney Ducks. I picked up 90+ issues of assorted Uncle Scrooge, Uncle Scrooge Adventures, Duck Tales and Donald Duck Adventures form the Gold Key, Gladstone, Gemstone and Disney Comics eras, plus a handful of red dress cover Archies totaling 102 comics-all for less than a buck each. I need to sort it all yet, and I'll try to take some picks, but they had just put out those Duck boxes yesterday from a collection that came in at the beginning of the week, so my timing was perfect. I rarely get lucky like that, but it's fun when I do. Though that might have been my budget for Gem City coming up next month that I spent today.
-M
edit to amend, I forgot there were about a dozen issues of the Crossgen fantasy series Sojourn in the pile o' stuff I got, so only about 80 or so Duck comics...

Ok, I didn't take pics of all the individual issue (there were way too many) except the Archie red dress cover, but I did snap a pic of the pile for each title, so here's this afternoon's haul... Two early 60s Archie titles with Roni in a red dress... and then a trio from the early 70s... (not sure if that last one was a mini-dress with leggings or a top with pants, but for 99 cents I grabbed it anyways) And then here was the pile of Uncle Scrooge... Uncle Scrooge Adventures... Donald Duck Adventures Gladstone series... Donald Duck Adventures Disney Comics series... DuckTales Gladstone series, with these three I only need #1 no for the full run... DuckTales Disney comics series... and finally a run of Sojourn from #2-13 with the prelude and a reprint edition that has the Prelude and #1. This was the one Crossgen series that really intrigued me being a fantasy series, but I never picked it up. Couldn't pass up the run for under a buck each... Was very happy to check off a significant chunk of my Disney Ducks want list with this batch of books. -M

I'm still looking for those DuckTales books. And Sojourn was one of CrossGen's better books. Ron Marz wrote a great run (along with Bedard) and Greg Land's art (mock him for his lightbox work or not) was really good here.

Back from CGC, Simpsons #1 Along with this I also got back my copies of Radioactive Man (first series). They look so nice together as a series.
