I picked up nine random issues Action Comics (all Weekly but one), jist because they were a buck and have Stern stories.

I just ordered this:  Amazon has 30% off books right now, but I believe it only applies to one book only, and I think it can only be used once. |

At 50 cents a page for a story no one likes, THAT's devotion. Of course, I feel the same way about Doug Moench, so I can hardly judge. |

I think I am going to give this to my son as one of his Christmas presents, though. He asked me what I wanted for Christmas the other day, and I told him I wanted this book. As soon as I said, "New Teen Titans" he lit up and said, "I WANNA READ TEEN TITANS!!!" So, I'll probably give it to him, and he'll probably end up getting me my own copy.  But I couldn't pass it up for $10.83 shipped. |

So Amy and I took a little road trip today to Trader's World, a large indoor/outdoor flea market about halfway between here and Cincinnati. Last time were were there, there were 6-8 comic vendors who had stalls/storefronts, plus a few other places that had boxes of comics and comic related goods. Same was true today and I picked up a bunch of stuff form severla different vendors, so it was almost like going to a mini con for me. We also stopped at a comic shop on the way back having a Black Friday weekend sale on back issues where I found a nice little haul as well... Going to break up the haul into a couple of posts... At the first vendor I went to, all comics and comic mags were 20-40% off his marked prices and I picked up the following trio of mags...  and this little gem, a Clea 7-11 Slurpee cup...front  and the back...  at the next dealer I only picked up 2 books...(sorry for the blurry pic)  a pair of second issues...Where Creatures Roam and Charlton's Ghost Manor combined for $5 and vendor #3 netted me this pair of goodies...  the first Essential Volume of Luke Cage (which is out of print and I have been trying to find for a couple of years) was 20% off cover price, and the Conan the Barbarian #10 (1 of 6 issue sI need to finish the run-now down to 5) was only $3. to be continued.... -M |

So the remaining flea market vendors I picked up stuff up at were basically dollar bins. One was buy 5 books get 2 free, every purchase also gets a free $1 comic form a promo box, and 10% off the total, so I picked up 22 books for the price of 15 minus 10%, the other was just pure dollar books... first up, a bunch of Hawkman by Geoff Johns from the discount dollar dealer...  some miscellaneous book sincluding The SPirit by Darwyn Cooke and Moritat, King conan #8, Sandman Mystery Theatre #1, Fate #1, a Simonson Orion issue and the Millenium Edition of JK's New Gods #1 among others...  and the last handful of dollar books, including a Marvel Handbook of the mystical side of the MU, the Ostrander/Mandrake MArtian Manhunter 1 Million issue, the Joe Kubert illustrated issue of Conan the Cimmerian from Dark Horse and others...  more to come... -M |

And on the way home, that LCS stop...10 early issues of Heavy Metal from '77-'80, including #3 and the Lovecraft issue, all at 50% off (so $35 for the 10, averaging $3.50 an issue)...   so not a bad day of comic hunting, add in my wife finding stuff, some good food, some good coffee and all in all a great day... -M |
