Don't tell me they made Scobby Doo a Legion Member? That makes it 894 members in all. They probably called Scooby and Shaggy in as emergency substitutes for Matter Eater Lad when he got a bad bout of indigestion😜

There was a period in the 2010's when the Avengers had a Legion type roster with dozens of members.
Worse. Period. Ever.

I like those Mickey Mouse collections. I hope to get more one day.
Sometimes when I order books, the post office just puts it in my work mail box (even though they are addressed to my home), so today at work I got this:
Marvel needs to do Thunderstrike collections next to finish the DeFalco/Frenz Thor stuff, but they probably won't. I have the single issues but it just would be neat.
Here are some hastily taken phone pictures of some interior pages:

It was a beautiful summer day, so I took a ride out to Yellow Springs to pick up my stuff at my lcs, and while there stopped at my favorite used book shoppe. While at Darkstar Books, I picked up a few back issues and vintage paperbacks. Their August back issue sale was 15% off all back issues. Nothing major, but filled in a few holes on some series that can be tough to find in the wild... I found the first three issues of Command Review, which collects some of the other strips from early issues of Albedo (a series way out of my price range) I also found 7 issues of Critters, 6 I needed and one an early Usagi appearance I already had, but at a price I couldn't resist... also including the Critters special featuring Stan Sakai's Nilson Groundthumper material. and found a copy of Twisted Tales #1 with the Corben cover, bringing me one closer to finishing that series. There was one half priced trade I picked up, the first volume of the mod-era WW... I also picked up a half dozen vintage paperbacks, 2 Frazetta covers, 2 Perry Rhodan volumes, and 2 of the Flash Gordon novelizations... Not a major haul, as I am saving money for the Jim and Dan show this coming Sunday, but all stuff that shrinks my want list by a bit. -M

Finally, the awesome Fantastic Voyage cartoon in comic book form. The cover is lovely, but not a great reader to be honest. I haven't actually added it to my "wanted" list, but at least on my MENTAL wanted list, I'm planning at some point to go after Filmation's JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, which I've always loved despite its serious cheapness (heh), and, it more-or-less follow-up, FANTASTIC VOYAGE. Philly's channel 48 had both shows on as reruns on Sunday mornings in the early 80s, along with their STAR TREK-- the latter of which I'm re-watching my videotapes of right now!
All 3 of these shows, frankly, put their DC superhero shows to shame. (Although, I honestly DO NOT remember either SUPERMAN or AQUAMAN being as awful as their 1968 BATMAN cartoons were. And I just BOUGHT the BATMAN set. I guess it's probably best I start at the BOTTOM-- heehee.)
On FANTASTIC VOYAGE, the guy in the turban always reminded me of "Hadji" all grown up.

I got this a few years ago but never got the second one. Emma Peel WW rules !

I love moments like this...in the words of an Elder Scrolls video game I love, "quest updated", I definitely need to hunt this down. Looks like YouTube is the only option? For Fantastic Voyage I picked up the Region 2 DVD (I keep a stock of cheap DVD players that can convert/play those), I still love rewatching that one regularly. Just personal opinion but for those late 60's DC series, Aquaman is by far my favorite. The underwater setting is just fabulous, the theme song, and Black Manta appearances too!

Last week I won an eBay auction for a collection of the early '60s adventure strip Fraser of Africa by Frank Bellamy. The strip follows the adventures of the titular Fraser, a white hunter in colonial Tanganyika in Africa, and ran in the British boys' comic Eagle, alongside the classic Dan Dare strip. I've not read it before, but Bellamy is a giant of British comics who actually worked on the Dan Dare strip after its creator Frank Hampson left and I've always really enjoyed his work on that title. Bellamy worked on Fraser of Africa immediately following his tenure on Dan Dare, so I'm expecting good things. At first glance, the art looks gorgeous (as I would expect), but interestingly Wikipedia tells me that Bellamy used a limited palette of browns and yellows to capture the parched East African landscape, with occasional use of blues and reds... Anyway, the book only cost me £7 including postage & packing, so even if it sucks -- which I think is unlikely – I won't have lost much. I'm really looking forward to diving into this tonight before I hit the sack.

Went to a Nashville shop last weekend that I haven't visited in about 6 months. Here are some of the highlights-- no major keys, but then again, I'm not a "key collector", I'm a comic collector. A few of these were already in my collection (e.g. Superman #252), but in those cases these copies were upgrades to my existing copies. My favorite discoveries on this trip were:
the beautiful aforementioned Superman #252,
an extremely clean Batman #204,
the 2nd issue of The Many Ghosts of Doctor Graves,
Where Monsters Dwell #36 (The only issue I need to complete the run is #38), A Fine+ copy of Strange Adventures #150 (with a great grey tone wash cover), JLA #107-- First appearance of the Freedom Fighters in the DC universe,
a VF- copy of Joe, The Genie of Steel (an industrial promo comic from US Steel, circa 1950-51, art by Jack Sparling),
and a variety cache of silver/bronze romance titles.

Bought on the 20th, shipped on the 23rd, received on the 5th via Royal Mail Tracked & Signed + Correos. Comicana (11th order): First time I have to pay taxes on a Royal Mail order (previously only happened with private couriers). Brexit is here.
The Avengers wasn't a 1st choice, but it was on sale and is part of WM 's progress, also continues in the annual I have. The CA is a late (for me) Gruenwald issue with a funny date.
The Byrne run. Not his most inspired work, but still acceptable. I'm even considering getting the Sal Buscema annual.
Most of Purves' runon the cheap. The first Mr. Fixit is the only one that's expensive, I'll have to get the True Believers reprint.
Some more Giffen mayhem with nice pictures.
This mini actually had better art than most of his run on CA. They didn't have the 1st issue, so I'll order it from LS once the previous order (from 7 weeks ago) arrives.
Bought on the 15th, shipped on the 16th, received on the 20th via Royal Mail 2nd Class (to UK address). UK eBay seller: First appearance of Crossbones, because of that I had to chuck £10. At LS the cheapest copy goes for $20 and looks like this:

Bought on the 20th, shipped on the 22nd, received on the 6th via USPS Priority + GSP (Sending). American eBay seller: Had to bid on an auction to get a reasonable price for high grade copy. Not so reasonable with postage and customs (60€). And all that because of what exactly? Because "a member of the Elementals inspired by Hydro-Man appeared in the live-action film Spider-Man: Far From Home"? Get out of here!
