Just as well my daughter is learning French so she can read this and understand it almost completely
Le Journal de Spider-Man is from France and reprints 4 stories in full-colour, making it about 80 pages thick.
I have a handful of French comics I'd picked up in a lot on ebay years ago (Tarzan, Spider-Man, Hulk) and it really makes me wish I knew French! I keep telling myself I'll try to read them some day with the assistance of the translate app on my phone and the French-English dictionary on my Kindle.

Bumping this up for maximum recognition of Icctrombone ! I just got A-OK'd on all of these books (except for "Foxhole"), which he bought a short while back, plus he threw in a couple of other Charlton horror titles and a couple of other war books! Thank you SO much, my friend-- you made this a great Monday! These were oddities that I was curious about. At a dollar each it , it was an okay gamble.

I haven't purchased anything comic related in a long time. And as long-time folk here will realize...this one is pretty unusual for me. I ordered a copy of Superman: The Silver Age Newspaper Dailies Volume 2: 1961-1963. I got this new for $10 including shipping. Yeah...I hate Superman. But I really can't pass up these kind of hardcover strip reprint books when I can get them for this cheap.

For post 2000 Marvel, I like Fabian Nicieza's run on Cable & Deadpool. That was a fun comic and a bit more self-contained than some later Marvel runs, even the tie-ins were pretty good. The series does have a beginning, middle and end - which does not happen all the time in a 60+ issue run.

Stopped by my lcs for my monthly pick up after my string of doctor's appointments this afternoon, and picked up a few minor things there and at Dark Star Books while I was there. Nothing major, just some odds and ends. One more Sgt. Rock issue off the list and one fo the Sgt. Fury Special Marvel Edition issues out of the dollar bin. three more issues of The 'Nam off my want list... Another issue of Ghost Rider off the list, and I found a copy of the New Mutants issue that features the first appearance of Madripoor at a non-inflated spec price, and since Madripoor is one of my favorite locales in the MU, I picked it up... and of course, a red dress cover (2 for the price of one on this one) plus the second issue of the Kitchen Sink reprint Baseball Comics series (I had issue 1) but of course the book I am most excited about was not a back issue but the debut issue of the Batman Scooby-Doo Mysteries that just came out recently. -M

So latest batch of stuff from the FB auction group, it's $19 for this entire batch of books (all but one is classic, the one is modern and I admit is a bit of a spec book for me but the price was right to take a flyer on)... I love that Darkseid cover and it was this offshoot from the Legends mini and the Legends mini that was my gateway into Kirby' Fourth World -M
I'll give Byrne credit for drawing a pretty good Darkseid but the presence of Superman spoils this cover for me.

I am not sure why, Superman was part of the earliest Fourth World Stories Kirby did (Jimmy Olsen, Forever People, etc.). It may have been circumstances, but Jack clearly intended Superman to be a part of the Fourth World stories and included him to make it easier to pass off those stories to other DC creators once he established them as was his original intent. You may have a problem with Superman's presence there, but Jack clearly didn't have any issues with Superman as part of the Fourth World. -M

Yeah, I'm just talking about my own feelings, obviously, not trying to say anything about anyone else. Though I do think Kirby wouldn't have needed or wanted Superman or the DCU had circumstances been different. However, that's neither here nor there - even if he had wanted it, I'd still feel the same way about the work itself. I'm not exactly keen to read Kirby's Super-Powers either, though I might get around to it one of these days.

The first 6 issues of JIMMY OLSEN that Jack Kirby did read like a movie. Although they came out at the same time as the other books, to me, they work best if read first in one go, as an introduction to the other 3.
Had Kirby done the Fourth World at Marvel, it is WAY TOO EASY to imagine that initial 6-parter as a 3-way crossover running thru 3 books as a way to introduce the new concepts to Marvel...
Superman -- Thor Jimmy Olsen -- Peter Parker The Newsboy Legion and the Whiz Wagon -- Fantastic Four and the Fantasti-Car

When to my favorite comic book store today (That's Entertainment in Worcester, MA) and they had some new dollar bins... picked up some Wally West Flash (just before the Waid Run), some Hal Jordan with grey temples era GL, a few issues from the Johns run, and a few from Fraction's Iron Man run. Also had a few 60s sci fi paperbacks (short story collections) for .95 each. Very pleased

Got this in the mail today. I had no idea that it was an all new story in this Annual when I was tracking down the SA Thors.

I could loko it up, but, I think this fits into the continuity just before Jane leaves & Sif turns up. (Or, somewhere around there.)

I think maybe some of my buddies on this forum might suggest a psych evaluation for these buys but , I found these Image books all for 1 buck each. I was curious about Bloodstrike almost 30 years later and picked the first 2 issues. Deathblow was by Alan Moore and I wanted to see if he spun some gold with the 2 issues. The Supreme books I always liked and the Shattered Image was a long time missing book that I think is now complete. I got these all in PA at a store called BAM ( Books and More).

I'm not saying a bad word about it. If you get at least $1 worth of enjoyment out of reading them, I'd say you got your money's worth. P.S. How long do you want me to wait before I start the internet rumor mill on a possible Bloodstrike/Deathblow crossover movie option? If I start the investment whispers now, you can probably double your money by next Friday.

[url Nah bro, you don't require a brain shrink for spending $1 an issue for some hopefully entertaining reads. The fun of comics is for finding what YOU like and enjoying the hell out of 'em. And at a buck apiece, it means you did good for yourself. Now if you suddenly chose to give away your hard sought Thor's and begin collecting war, westerns and romance series, then yeah we may need to get your med's checked!🙃
