I kind of want that X-Men Visionaries book, but if it's the same thing that's already collected in the Masterworks, then nevermind. But, still! Any Neal Adams is great too look at. it collects all of the Neal Adams Roy Thomas run from the X-men collaboration. I had only ever read 2 issues from that run. I'm hoping that it's worth the wait. It depends upon what you consider being worth the wait, imo. It's leaps better than Stan's X-Men, but, for me, personally, it's still nowhere near as good as Claremont's X-Men. Even with Roy as the writer. But it's super FUN to look at, and the stories are not bad. They're just phenomenal. But that is only my personal opinion.

Ha, I meant that literally as well as figuratively. The person I won it from on ebay, didn't send it for 2 weeks until i placed a request with ebay.

This is why I absolutely avoid ebay unless I just find a deal I cannot pass up. And even then, they'd better have a high positive feedback score.

And purchased! You enablers. At least they were enablers with good taste. The Futurians have been a favorite of mine ever since the first graphic novel. In the days before comic message boards, I spent years trying to find out exactly how many issues there were and when (if) they'd ever come out. Glad it's easier for you. Enjoy.

Anyone should read Roy Thomas' X-Men run purely for Havok's presence in the books.

I never was a fan of the X-men With The exception of Morrison and Whedons run. But i'm a BIG fan of Adams. I even buy his less great stuff that he's churned out as of late.

I found Whedon's run to be okay, but I stopped with issue #14 because I got sidetracked. I never went back to it. I got about 5 issues into Morrison's run when I said, "Screw this." and gave up. That art killed me.

I agree... Whedon's OK, but it actually felt like a good fanfic more than the real X-Men. Morrison was just terrible, IMO... sometimes he can be good (even brilliant), but with X-Men, he wandered into WTF territory.

Oops, I guess the difference in the characterization was what made it good for me. I always felt that the Claremont version had melodramatic dialogue. Real people would never talk that way. Morrison and Whedons version rung true to me.

A agree CLaremont's melodramatic... I feel like Whedon tries too hard, though. I don't really recall having an impression of Morrison's diaglogue, I'm usually trying to figure out what the heck is going on
