Stopped by a shop today and it was Quarterpalooza, i.e. got all these books for a quarter each, most in kind of rough shape, but decent readers... Daredevil (Bendis/Brubaker):68, 69, 79, 80, 82, 83 Hawkman (Johns): 1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14-16 Unity 2000 1, 2 Space Ghost (Joe Kelly): 3 Grendel Black White & Red 1-4 Nextwave 1 (Director's Cut)-3 Tales of the Unexpected #6 (Mandrake Spectre) Planetary/Authority: Ruling the World Vigilante 42 Dr. Fate (DeMatteis): 1 Dragonlance (DC) #1 Green Arrow (Grell): 1, 2 Sgt. Rock 411, 416 (Kubert covers) from there dollar boxes also snagged Shadow Year One (Matt Wagner) 4-6 Shadow 25 (last ish of the ongoing) and the Francavilla cover to Shadow 16 when I got home, the Annihilation Vol. 3 hardcover I had requested as part of a trade paperback swap site I am part of had arrived in the mail, so I now have a bigger to read pile.... -M I liked the Shadow series. Too bad it was cancelled for the Chaykin reboot.
I have all the issues of Shadow Year One but will wait til the series is complete so I can read in one sitting.

I've been using Ebay for the first time the last week or so. I've lost about 10 auctions but I did win Sgt. Fury 21, 57 and 66 all in supposed VF+/NM- for $60.00 total.
We'll see how the grading is and then I'll determine if I want to continue going the Ebay route.

There are some respected and respectable dealers on there whose grades you can trust. Then there are a ton of yahoos who either don't know how to grade or purposely lie. It's a crapshoot until you figure out which is which.

I refer to the pics myself...and if someone says VF/NM I assume FN/VF at best. But I have found that more often than not, I am very pleased. Can only think of 2 deals in like 8-9 years of buying that I sent back

Fury as opposed to trying to purchase keys from a series like Avengers or FF. I'll post here when I get the books in the mail.

I feel as giddy as the kid I was in the early 80s, when we'd go visit my grandma in the big city (Montreal) where there were American comics for sale at all news outlets! Here's what I picked up today from what was essentially a garage sale!!! (Okay, I had to drive 45 minutes each way, but it was definitely worth it). Despite the photo's low quality, we can distinguish Creeper #2 and 6, the Adventure comics with the origin of Black Orchid, a Batman family book wirth Michael Golden art, an issue of Rima, another Adventure with Phantom Stranger, and plenty of goodies from Marvel (including the Shanna issue with the Steranko cover). Then there was a whole bunch of #1 from Atlas, uncluding the two IronJaw first issues. And of course plenty of Dell goodies and two cool Charltons. But that's not all! As long as there's a dollar left in my wallet, I have no reason to stop! Three early issues of Astonishing tales, Spider-Woman #1, two more Marvel Premiere issues (love that title!) and teo Master of Kung Fu I hadn't read. Plus a Hulk issue drawn by Herb Trimpe. This is BLISS! BLISS, I tell you!!!

I'm only collected editions and digital nowadays, but I was happy to finally be able to order Prince Valiant Vol.1 & 2 from Fantagraphics. Both have been out of print for awhile now.

My wife made me drive an hour out of the city this morning to check a dresser she wants me to refurbish for our soon-to-be-here daughter. It was too big, we didn't take it. While coming back, I spotted a yellow Corvette on the side of the road I knew belonged to a guy who usually buys comics from me. We stopped and there was a small garage sale. I got the following for 50 cents each.
Howard the Duck Magazine #4 Savage Tales Magazine #2 Sword & Sorcery Comix Magazine #13 Savage Sword of Conan #54 Errie #91,112 Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu Magazine #26 Bizarre Adventures Magazine #32 Warriors of the Shadow Realm Magazine #13 Punisher Annual #2 Uncanny Tales #5 Marvel Spotlight #7,30 Miracleman #1 (Moore/Leach) Superman #278 ASM #271 Detective Comics #468,479 Captain America #255 Son of Satan #7 Ghosts #31 Silver Surfer #18 AD&D #1 Beware #25 Fantastic Four 287 Ghostly Tales #114,139 Black Panther #10 Claw the Unconquered #4 Kazar #7
Most of them are in rough shape, but I was pretty stocked for 50 cents each! Saw two guys leaving with each a box of comics when I got there, wonder what they got!
Then, on our way home, we got 2 phone calls... 1) Someone called us about a dresser that was supposedly sold but the buyer cave in, so we bought it for 30$ AND IT FITTED IN MY WIFE'S 2004 ECHO 2) A woman I contacted on Kijiji last fall said she would accept my offer of 20$ CDN for over 60 Savage Sword of Conan, because she's moving tomorrow.
What a great day! Now if England can destroy Italy in 30 minutes, it might take the first spot as "BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" (Costa Rica already upset Uruguay)

Haha, I knew you'd like them! If I have a few doubles, I'd GLADLY trade them for that The Cat book. That looks interesting!
