It's on and off everyday lately. Sometimes it's every five minutes, sometimes it goes hours without happening.

About every third time I try to get to the page or navigate form one thread to another on the page the past two days I get one of the two error messages, sometimes the banned 1015 error and sometimes the 502 server error. It was happening often enough yesterday (resulting in three posts being lost when I hit the send button) that I got frustrated and gave up on the forums for the rest of the day.

It was happening often enough yesterday (resulting in three posts being lost when I hit the send button) that I got frustrated and gave up on the forums for the rest of the day. -M I feel your frustration. Unfortunately, there is really nothing that we nor proboards can do about a coordinated Denial of Service attack beyond get the authorities involved and hope it eventually stops. |

I am the type that gets frustrated when tech doesn't work the way it is supposed to, and when I know it's not me and there's a deliberate hand behind it, my best option is to walk away for a while because I know there's nothing I can do except get more frustrated. I was just commiserating/venting with the post, and if I am not around for a couple of days, that may well be the reason. Mrs MRP is on a staycation this week, so I'll likely be around less anyways, but when the windows of opportunity I do get to post are mostly closed because of this stuff, I know it's not a battle I am going to win so I just walk away. -M |

Even if it is just liking a post! Sorry. Just needed to vent. Believe it or not, me too. Proboards has been purposefully vague about what exactly happened, but from what I am able to gather, it's a coordinated group trying to pressure proboards to take down a legitimate site for discussing or supporting something that they disagree with. Whether it's Russia, "Cancel Culture", White Supremacists, or something else entirely, proboards has decided to fight it out and stand by their principals that any site not in violation of the user agreement has a right to stay up. I respect them for that. So this sucks, and I have no idea how much longer we will have to deal with it, but I'm glad to see proboards willing to risk it all in order to protect its communities. As a staff member who has, at times, found myself having to make very unpopular decisions in order to adhere to this community's principals and my own sense of right and wrong (when giving in to pressure and popular opinion would have been so much easier), I applaud their efforts here. |
