After a long dry drought, Wal-Mart suddenly has pegs full of Megos (as of last week)--but its only Aquaman and Green Lantern for some reason. I see no evidence of additional "$19.95" pegs where other figures would have hung. Still, Green Lantern was once a hot seller that could not be found anywhere, and now there's plenty. If Batman ever shows up again (though I doubt it), I feel compelled to get one more. I picked up Green Lantern and Aquaman a week or so back. So the only one that I think is out that I haven't seen is Flash. Out so far are 2 waves: Wave 1: Batman, Robin, Superman Wave 2: Shazam!, Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern Wave 3 is coming soon with Green Arrow and several villains-I am not sure which villains are wave 3 and which will wind up in wave 4 but Joker, Riddler, Reverse Flash and Bizarro are among them. -M

Amazon has Green Arrow up for sale and was set to ship by June 27th (which I pre-ordered), but it is now listed as out of stock.
Entertainment Earth has shipped the Joker & Riddler, so I should have them by Saturday.

I got my Green Arrow from Amazon...but they've been very sketchy on getting Mego's out...particularly this line. The only two I haven't been able to put my hands on are Shazam and Flash.

Oh--well, amazon has not messaged me about cancelling my order, so i'm hopeful GA will be available toward the end of the month.

Just received Green Arrow from amazon, and as posted over a week ago, amazon is out of stock on many of all three waves of figures, and has no idea "if or when" (their words) they will get any others in stock. I believe the few that are still available are edging $30 and/or sold by third parties.

According to the Mego Museum, discount retailer Big Lots will carry an exclusive series of four Mego figures in September: Golden Age Superman (based on the costume from the Fleischer cartoons): Batman (based on the 1966-68 TV series costume): Robin (also based on the 1966-68 TV series costume): Finally, there's the Joker, supposedly based on the TV series costume: I'm not so excited about this wave. One, Superman merely recycles their standard Superman head, and while I'm sure some might say the original Mego company was partially known for recycling parts, for example, they sculpted an original head for the Romulan, instead of re-using Spock's head. Two, it was only a few years ago when Figures Toy Company launched their extensive series of Mego-like figures based on the 1966 TV series, and to be honest, if the Batman and Robin photos above are how the final product appears, they are not nearly as well-designed as the FTC versions. The Joker just seems to have purple hands to bring it closer to the TV version. One great, recent bit of news, Mego's Marty Abrams announced they have the Marvel license. I'm predicting Mego will reissue many of the Marvel big names (Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Falcon, Thor), or if the sales warrant it, perhaps all Fantastic Four members along with Conan.

Recently got the Mego Green Arrow figure from Wal-mart. Excellent toy. I never had the original Vintage version, so this is a nice alternative. For that matter, I had very few of the DC/Marvel Mego figures - so it's nice to be able to get these - in most cases for the first time.
Thanks for the info. about the current?! Mego DC Big Lots exclusives. I don't go to that particular store too often, and given that these are store exclusives & are Mego retro DC figures - I have a feeling they'll sell like hot-cakes. We'll see. I do have a definite interest in the Fleishcer-era Superman & the Joker - both look fantastic. I did used to have the original Vintage Mego Superman back in the early '80's, but that's long gone.
I also heard the recent news about the forthcoming?! Marvel Mego figures. These will be nice - hopefully they'll re-make all of the original figures (at the least). IIRC I had the Mego Hulk & Spider-man back in the day. The Hulk was one of my favorite figures; this was during the late '70's/early '80's-era, when the TV show (starring Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrigno) was huge.
I remember when the Marvel "Famous Covers" figures were out in the late '90's. Though these were OK & though I had some of them, IMHO they weren't as iconic as the Mego figures.

To add to my last post, here are the top Mego Marvel figures I'd like to see re-released, or released for the first time (though I know we'll be lucky to get even a small # of these released). Note that re: the potential/theoretical never-before-released figures on this list, I'm trying to stick to Marvel characters that were introduced in the comics no later than the early '80's - to keep in line with the era when the Mego figures were originally being released. I.e., IIRC I did see Mego figures in stores through the early '80's - though the line(s) were definitely winding down by that time:
Spider-man Green Goblin Hulk Iron Man Human Torch The Lizard The Thing Invisible Girl/Woman Hobgoblin Spider-woman Dr. Octopus Shocker Electro Wolverine Absorbing Man Daredevil Bullseye Doc Sampson Silver Surfer Cyclops Jean Grey/Phoenix ROM Spaceknight - not sure what the licensing issues here would be, but ROM would make a great Mego retro figure
A deluxe Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards with rubbery "stretching" action - I always wanted a figure like this as a kid. Ironically, though they did have "stretching" super-hero figures in the 1970's, IIRC they never made a stretching Mr. Fantastic in this particular line. This is despite the fact that Mr. Fantastic actually stretched like this in the comics.
-I'd also like to see a re-release of the larger 12" Hulk figure with the white shirt (1978)

Mego announced a new classic Batman based on the Bronze Age Neal Adams look to be a part of an upcoming 50th Anniversary wave. Most obvious feature is a larger cape... No mention of when this wave will drop. -M

No mention of when this wave will drop. -M Trying to decide if I really need another Batman. Understand, but to be fair, nobody needs any Mego. If that were the deciding factor, no Mego would ever be purchased. It comes down to do people want this Mego enough to pay the 20 some odd bucks it will sell for. I haven't figured out the answer yet, and since it's likely I will never see it in the wild, I probably never will make that decision. I don't want it enough to preorder it, but I haven't preordered any of them since the wave that was available after the first 3 Target waves. so that's nothing new. -M

I was buying a whole lot of the new stuff, but then kind of got overwhelmed. Honestly, there's just too much. At this point I'm down to "what would Slam have really wanted when he was 10?" If it sparks nostalgic joy I'll get it. So in this upcoming wave I'll probably spring for Spectre (one of my faves), Hawkman, The Demon, J'Onn J'Onzz and maybe Sinestro. That's my order of interest. Spectre is a must have to sit beside my Deadman. And now I think maybe that Adams style Batman would look good with Two-Face.

I am on the fence with Sinestro. If it was his classic costume, I would definitely get it. The Yellow Lantern costume, not as much a fan of that one.
I still need to track down a Deadman though.

One issue is that I really don't have that much room either.

As a side note, I looked to see if Deadman was still available on Amazon, and it was on sale for about a third off, so I ordered one.
