Batman 1955 to 1978 You barely started it! And you haven’t gotten to Batwoman, the Mad Hatter, the Mirror Man, etc. I know, I know, I know. I really enjoyed those few reviews I wrote, but it's also downright oppressive looking at the hundreds upon hundreds of issues still ahead. Even churning out a hundred reviews this year would barely put a dent in the run. And I also worry that we'll start running out of things to say. I've really tried to focus on McCarthyism and Post-War American Jengoism in the thread thus far, but it got to a point where I was mostly repeating myself. If every story is written to be a done-in-one, and they aren't massively reflecting on what's happening in the world at the time, there isn't much left to do but over-analyze every plot point hit and every line drawn in an issue no one is going to pull out to read. Still...it was fun. So, at the very least, this thread will get a handful of reviews this year and every year, but we'll let the votes decide if I push it to the front of my priority list.

Yeah--plus it's so rare to see an "auteur" look at a writer from the pre-Moore era, especially one who didn't specialize in established characters.

Course, it would mean juggling two other Batman threads while making this one your primary focus and hey, what better way to say "I hate you Chad - go @#%^ yourself!" than to dangle the possibility of revving up this thread only to decide otherwise, but hey, if you hate me that much, go ahead and pick something else - your call! What, and piss off my #1 fan? Your vote counts twice as much as everyone else's, sir BOO-YEAH!!

Well this has been some great feedback! As of now, it looks like I need to spend some significant time on Complete Batman: 1955-1978 and The Valiant Universe in the Jim Shooter Era. I think I also want to spend a little time on Batman Family, even though it's the only option that no one chose . I'd love to get to the introduction of Jason Todd (which is less than ten reviews away) because it really shakes up the status of the rest of the Batman Family, so I'll happily play to an empty audience on that one. Thanks much for your interest and feedback, everyone! It means a ton to me that this many of you actually care about what I'm writing. Of course you can keep voting (and changing votes) if you like. I'll keep checking in here for feedback.

Frankly, I'd read any and all of your review threads because your insights and opinions never fail to get me thinking and pondering on my own thoughts and reactions on the issue (or series) at hand ( yes, even Atari Force).
That being said, of the choices offered, I voted for Superman because of my particular interest in both the character and the time frame. Batman Family because I am a sucker for these type of family books. I have a huge chunk of the Superman Family title and your reviews so far of the Batman Family has helped me start to fill in the blanks of acquiring this run. NTT because it's one of the main titles that helped pull me into DC back in the 80s so always a soft spot for them. Lastly Moench because he's a quality writer who, so far, I have yet to read any story by him that hasn't illicited some type of strong response be it mental, physical or emotional.

I voted Superman, because it's the thread that got me to sign up for this forum. Guilt trip working yet...? Need more than that? Ok, you said this... I LOVE reviewing mediocre. I just need to decide WHICH mediocre to slog through And it just does not get more mediocre than early 90s Superman! Humor working yet....? Mediocre as it may be at the point you're at, it does pick up in a while. And that's the stuff I really want to see you review. You also said (I think) that you were only planning to review to the end of the "Death of Superman" storyline. You're not that far off. Also, you are at right about January 1992, and it's presently January 2022, so one review a week can keep you at a constant "30 years ago in Superman comics..." til the end. Having said that, choose whatever interests you most. As long as it has Bob Rozakis stories, of course, so I can re-script them for you.

Having said that, choose whatever interests you most. Superman in the PC is certainly my favorite review thread to work on. The only reason I don't work on it all the time is that, with so many issues and such a dense continuity, it doesn't lend itself well to doing one or two reviews a month. I really need to be all-in, doing at least one review a week in order to keep all the plot lines fresh in my brain, and (at this point in my life) that would mean reviewing nothing else. I may still end up doing a month or two of Superman this year, and I so appreciate the enthusiasm! This is one of the most mixed blessings I have ever been offered...

The Superman and Justice League threads are the two I'm most invested in, so I voted for those. However, if it's getting to be overwhelming I'd say pick the one that's closest to completion and just knock it out before starting anything new.

However, if it's getting to be overwhelming I'd say pick the one that's closest to completion and just knock it out before starting anything new. That would be Batman Family, and it's still probably 30 reviews from being done. After that, it's Superman, which still has a minimum of two years of work left in it. Sooner or later, I'm going to have to make my peace with the fact that most of these review threads will remain works in progress forever. I guess it's the journey and not the destination, right?
