Well sure, killing people off to prove x villain is a bad man is terrible.. a death should be meaningful for the story. I think it cheapens the story when the character then comes back, and often sets back any development the other characters may have had.
The problem with ever-young heroes is you eventually run out of stories to tell if you never let them grow and change. DC figured that out in the 90s, then changed their minds. Marvel's solution was to have the heroes fight each other instead of the villains... I can't say I've loved either other than in small pockets, and then it's mostly when they DO let characters grow a bit... the the current Nightwing book, for instance.
