I was sure you had someone else in mind here. 🫖 Jughead and Archie? More like Jughead and food!

With my 1st run through I came up with a total of 42. Already eliminated many right off the bat by limiting the # of DC and Marvel couples for the top 12. Favorite is the big equalizer here for me. So many of the relationships are notable or memorable but focusing in upon those favored ones that truly stand out for myself is where the difference stands out.

Nothing to do with me, of course, but just thought I'd chime in with my thoughts on this, which are that if the couple in question never got it together then I'm not sure it really fits the "All You Need Is Love" theme. I realise that "love" is being used here in the loosest possible sense, but if a couple just flirted with each other or had palpable sexual tension between them, then to my mind it wouldn't be an in-story declaration of "love" between them. It would fall more under the category of flirtation, infatuation or lust. And I'm including the flimsiest declaration of "love" here, like a kiss or similar. It's also much harder to definitively say that these characters were "in love": it's much more open to reader interpretation. It's a fair point, but I think you can also have two characters form a strong and intimate romantic bond without ever declaring it nor acting on it physically. Oddly enough, I think we usually get more invested in those relationships in the will-they-won't-they phase than we do if/when they finally get together, maybe because it allows the conflict to be about their relationship, whereas we don't want to see conflict in their relationship once they are together. Glad this got cleared up as I had a pick with a very similar relationship and was going to sneak them in with the sort of traditional relationship they did have if the "will they/won't they" angle was vetoed.

I'm not sure I should say! I thought he meant Jughead and Big Ethel.
Or Krazy Kat and Ignatz.

I'm not sure I should say! I thought he meant Jughead and Big Ethel. Ah, but they did get together in Life With Archie: The Married life I'd pay to see that.

I thought he meant Jughead and Big Ethel. Ah, but they did get together in Life With Archie: The Married life He got together with a version of Archie too when he became involved with Archie's lookalike time traveling descendant January McAndrews! Jughead also dated Sabrina in the comics, and Betty in Riverdale, not to mention marrying Midge in Life with Archie. He also occasionally dated Veronica in the Golden Age, and there was an issue of the original Life with Archie where he and Veronica were forced to marry as part of an Aztec ritual, though it was interrupted before finalized. Then there's Trula Twyst, Debbie, Joanie Jumpp, Sandy Sanchez, and Wendy Weatherbee, who all have set been involved with Jughead at one point or another. As a "girl hater," he's doing a pretty crappy job!

I'm in, and as others have noted. . I immediately thought of at least 10 right off the bat - heavy DC leaning too, since that's the company I've already read/collected most.
not really sure of the rankings tho. . . . I mean, I know what SHOULD be my #1, but since these are *MY* choices? yeah, I think other factors are gonna impact my choices once I get to the top 3 (which is where the likely should be #1 will end up).

So what about characters who experience mutual attraction but never end up romantically entwined; the will-they-won't-they pairings? That's an interesting question, but I don't ever remember two people who had an attraction and it wasn't realized in some form in a comic. Bruce and Dick ?
